NFL Week 12 Afternoon Live Thread
READ MORE:
NFL

There really aren't a whole lot of compelling games this afternoon, but don't tell that to fantasy owners. It's time to secure that playoffs berth with regular seasons winding down.

Here are my picks sure to go wrong for Week 12:

Bengals over Titans - I don't know why I keep picking Cinci to win
Browns over Texans
Chiefs over Raiders
Rams over Seahawks
Giants over Vikings
Redskins over Bucs
Saints over Panthers
Jaguars over Bills
Cardinals over 49ers
Bears over Broncos
Chargers over Ravens

Feel free to discuss the games here. I have the fun task of driving back home this afternoon, but should be back in time to watch many Rex Grossman interceptions.

Games to watch is nothing exciting either...Early ones are Tampa/Washington and Buffalo/Jacksonville followed by Denver/Chicago...

Just a day to finish off the turkey and sit by my gamechannel for the Chiefs/Raiders I guess...

Picks today

Tampa over Washington close

Seattle over Rams

Giants over Vikings

Chiefs over Raiders

Jaguars over Bills

UPSET Texans over Browns

Titans over Bengals

Bears over Broncos

Saints over Panthers

Cards over 49ers

Chargers over Ravens close (I was really tempted to go with Baltimore)

Patriots huge

Steelers big.

Only one upset, yet I picked a ton of spreads the other way.  Uh oh.  I went 3-0 in game picks and spread on Turkey Day, but I was 0-3 O/U.  D'oh!

12 men on the field for Buffalo on 4th and 4...next play -- Fred Taylor TD.

Everywhere I look, points are being scored.

Giants match, Reuben Droughns

Cincy, Rudi on a run

Tampa, Earnest Graham

Jags, Fred Taylor big run.

(Just glad the start on the KC 26 Daunte couldn't get in another one...)

only 3-0 Raiders early -- due to a Croyle INT.

Since when did Cleveland's orange helmet have the players number on it?

11/25/07

Umm...St. Louis safety?

Good start I guess for the Rams..

11/25/07

Safety for the Rams. I hope Jess hasn't woken up yet to see that.

I'll admit I'm not hopeful when you think that your starting QB and RB come into this game with a combined 1 total NFL start.

6 early carries for 45 yards isn't too bad for Kolby though.

11/25/07
0
make that 8 for 57 and a Kolby Smith 10 yard TD run to go up 7-3.

(three 10-yard+ runs on that drive alone)

11/25/07
0
TD Vikes.  Darren Sharper with a pick.

Is there any better commercial out right now other than the "Dude" Bud Light one?

11/25/07
0
Brodie Croyle 1/4, 8 yards, 0 TD and 1 INT through 1st quarter...and I'm strangely fine with it (as long as they keep the lead.)

Kolby Smith's 66 yards is the best so far today (even after Fred Taylors 50 yard run)

Wouldn't mind seeing him run a little bit more for a good 150 or so on the day if Brodie continues to struggle.

The Rams finally are playing like the team I thought would win the division...too bad they lost their first 8 to kill the playoff hopes.

11/25/07

Herm's challenge overturns a 18 yard pass play...so instead of a continuing drive; Janikowski hits a 54-yarder.

7-6 Chiefs.

11/25/07
0
of course Eli chooses to have his "off-game" today...when the Vikings have no Adrian Peterson...and I obviously choose the Giants...

11/25/07

Note to Herm:

DO NOT RUN WITH GILBERT HARRIS.

Dude fumbles the football at the 15..almost lost it...

10-6 Chiefs.

11/25/07

I'll never understand how you recover a fumble on the opponents 25; and end up being forced to punt by the end of the drive...

11/25/07

back to back penalties for the Raiders on their own 2 now...fair to call another Safety for the Chiefs D?

11/25/07
0
Wow, he fit that pass into a very small hole, TD Browns.

11/25/07

16 carries, 94 yards; not a bad first half for your first career start and 3rd RB.

10-6 Chiefs at Halftime.

11/25/07
0
126 yards and 2 TD's now for Kolby!

17-13 Chiefs lead.

11/25/07

Wow Tennessee....they're just getting destroyed.

Called it

Bills end-around to perfection. 19-14 now for Jacksonville.

Is this the beginning of the annual NYG collapse?

11/25/07

Eli just threw his 3rd INT TD.  That's gotta be a record or something.

11/25/07

Rayner misses a 33 yarder...still 17-13...hopefully that won't be too costly

11/25/07

Hope you had the Vikings D on your fantasy team.

11/25/07

of course then a 3 play, 77 yard drive happens and its 20-17 Raiders...

11/25/07
0
Do I even wanna know what happened?

Ball on 27, 4th and 1...two timeouts used later, they are stopped for a 1 yard loss going for it in a 20-17 game...

Now Oakland driving with 10 yard plays...

Time to take that nap I was hoping for..bye people

Amazing that a team can pass 12 times, give it to one RB 31 times, and win 41-17.

11/25/07

Ouch, a fumbled snap is a harsh way for the Rams to lose.

11/25/07

Wow, Devin Hester just looked like a moron, he tryed to smack down a bad punt on the bounce, and gave a free possession to the Broncos.

Welcome to St. Louis Rams football.  We are notorious for finding ways to pull a defeat from the jaws of victory

How often do you see an NFL run an option for the TD?  Well played Denver, well played.

I wish that would count for Fantasy. I'd love for Eli to get 3 more TD's.

A little basketball note here, LeBron just got another triple double today. That is two in a row and I think his third this week.

And Skip Bayless will remind us that LeBron sucks and that the Giants are the best team in the NFC.

Skip Bayless and SAS have the same set of ideas.

1, "If you say it louder, that makes you correct."

2, "Saying things loudly makes you important."

I actually can't wait until tomorrow when I hear what Skip has to say.

It is also the Woody Paige on Around the Horn idea.

Devin Hester is really really good.  If there was ever a kick returner who was the MVP of his team, its him.

11/25/07

Devin Hester doing his Bo Jackson impression by taking off in to the tunnel on that return, nice.

So it looks like New England clinched their playoff spot today before having to play. Has anyone ever clinched this early before?

I doubt it.  It isn't the first time a team went 10-0, but it is the first time that a team with 10-0 in a pathetic division.

AZ/SF is going to overtime.  Meanwhile, the Chargers/Ravens game is a final, victory for the Chargers.

Bears should have a TD.  Knee is down in bounds, he holds possession.

Cardinals are wishing they didn't get that delay of game.   32 yd FG missed by Rackers to keep OT alive.  Somewhere Jon is either swearing, taking a drink, or both.

Bears/Denver entering OT.

Rackers honks a 32 yarder. I'm still trying to figure out who to root for in this Bears/Broncos game.

11/25/07

Hester may be the best returner ever, but he is also the worst ball handler ever.

49ers just won, recovered a fumble in the endzone.

And that's the type of game that proves that the Cardinals aren't a legit team.

That was embarrassing (talking about Kurt Warner of course).

There, fixed it for you.

Presuming the Eagles lose tonight, there will be six teams in the NFC at 5-6 (Bears, Cards, Saints, Skins, Vikes, probably Eagles). All are just a game out of a playoff spot.

Not just Warner, they aren't that good of a team.  When your defense gets beaten up by the 49ers, you have issues.

Swearing yes, drinking not yet. But I will be shortly. I decided to relax in my hotel for a bit, came on line, got a bunch of IMs about the game. I'm glad I can't actually see what happened. I knew Kurt Warner would cost the Cardinals a game all by himself at some point.

The 49ers had scoring drives of 32, 18, 6 and 0 yards. That's not the defense's fault that they had that field position.

Yeah, there's no way to know if they would have scored anyway if they had been farther away, but you can't give the other team the ball in your own territory like that and not expect them to score.
