NFL Week 13 Schedule And Live Thread
Drew Brees Has An Arm Of The Gods [NFL Live Thread]
READ MORE:
Despite the fact that this week has fewer games as a result of Thanksgiving, there are still a lot of pivotal games going on. We've got the Broncos versus the Jets, the Panthers versus the Packers, the Bucs versus the Saints, the Giants versus the Redskins, the Steelers versus the Patriots, and the Bears against the Vikings.

My lock of the week is the Miami Dolphins. They're coming off a tough loss and will be ready to just crush a Rams team that has already given up on the season. This one may get ugly with the Wildcat formation going on full throttle.

Anyhow, all of the individual game pages are listed below. Feel free to chat up the games here or on the linked pages below.

Indianapolis Colts at Cleveland Browns 1 p.m. CBS
Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals 1 p.m. CBS
Denver Broncos at New York Jets 1 p.m. CBS
Miami Dolphins at St. Louis Rams 1 p.m. CBS
San Francisco 49ers at Buffalo Bills 1 p.m. FOX
Carolina Panthers at Green Bay Packers 1 p.m. FOX
New Orleans Saints at Tampa Bay Buccaneers 1 p.m. FOX
New York Giants at Washington Redskins 1 p.m. FOX
Atlanta Falcons at San Diego Chargers 4:05 p.m. FOX
Pittsburgh Steelers at New England Patriots 4:15 p.m. CBS
Kansas City Chiefs at Oakland Raiders 4:15 p.m. CBS
Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings 8:15 p.m. NBC

Bears/Texans are two that make me go "Ughh...." because it could go either way.  Rams and Saints are too bad to win I think, and the Chargers always find a way to lose this year, even against a team I don't trust in Atlanta.

We'll see, the NFL never tends to make sense on a week to week basis, and I'm not one to pick too many big upsets.

The wind is whipping here (Tampa) with regular gusts in the 30+mph range....Running offense and defense will win this one ..advantage: Buccaneers

Lock of the Week : Ravens -7 over the Bengals. Cincy will come out flat and Ravens ground game will roll

I just don't trust any team in a "West" division at ALL.  And I hate the NFC South, because I often get burned, but going against the Saints has worked more times than not for me.

Where the hell do you get your info from?!!....I wouldn't dare comment on the Broncos or Avs in detail because I don't live there. You are totally INCORRECT! Gruden should've been gone long ago but apparently the Glazers love him and the only way he goes is if the old man dies and the kids listen to the fans.

Um, I s Sean Payton ever going to learn? You don't run reverses on the Buccaneers defense....turnover on downs

This is as good of a chance as the Rams have to win there 3rd game this year.  Not only is Steven Jackson back but CBS sent Mr. Excitement, Gus Johnson, to do play by play.  If the stars were ever aligned for an upset, this would be it

Sean Payton might be the most overrated coach in football right now.  He took over a rebuilt Saints team with a weak schedule, did well with that for one year, and hasn't done jack since.  That offense is all because of Brees, not anything Payton does.

Because the Packers a) couldn't punch the ball in from the 1, b) had another secondary collapse, and c) threw a pick immediately after, the season is over. Don't assume 0-16 from the Lions yet.

Call me old school but lies are not rumors..they're ..well, ... just made up bull
I know you hate ESPN just like I do. Jon Gruden NEVER NEVER said he wanted to go anywhere. But, some guy thought  'Hey Jon Gruden was once a quality assurance assistant at Tennessee 20 years ago and he met his wife Cindy there...WHOA! That must mean he wants to go coach there!, boy am I brilliant' ....That's like me assuming that you are a huge soccer fan because you live in Denver...I guess I could make up crap too: How's this Latrell Sprewell will join the MMA with a specially promoted match where if he chokes his opponent out he will make an extra $20,000 ..and his opponents nickname:...wait for it...P.J.     natuarally
I guess it's just that you want to make some noise by making stuff up. I wish Jon Gruden would leave, and I hope thast your made up story has legs, ...but I know better, because I live here and I see that guy every day.
btw, how's that Cardinal juggernaut goin?

I guess it's the editor in me.
I haven't once said anything about the Buccaneers this season other than they have a top three defense. If they can lock up the #2 seed, they should be able to get to Giants Stadium then lose the G-Men.
My locks should have been making money as they've been correct when offered.
The author of this thread would've lost money on the Dolphins today unless he played the money line which I'm sure would've netted no more than $35 on a $100 bet

Wow, the QB stats for Cassell stick out like a sore thumb.  Check this out, this is what happens when you go up against the #1 defense in the NFL.
Pittsburgh Comp Att Yds Pct Y/A Sack YdsL TD Int Rating
 B. Roethlisberger 17 33 179 51.5 5.4 1 7 2 1 75.2
New England Comp Att Yds Pct Y/A Sack YdsL TD Int Rating
 M. Cassel 18 37 149 48.6 4.0 4 21 0 2 36.9

You know what's funny? Cassel is still a better QB. Anyone who DOESN'T have a good game against the Patriots secondary needs to think twice about their status as an NFL QB.

And I think it's hilarious that you're sitting here bragging about a game in which your QB barely hit 50% of his passes against some of the worst CB's in football, and only had a 75.2 rating. Congrats... that's really awesome.

I'm deleting all my 2008 Chargers games from the Hard-Drive immediately!!! (Don't know why I was saving them anyways) The Chargers have no O-Line, no D-Line, No LB help, and just plain have no HEART at all this season!!! Michael "The Burner" Turner > L.T.  I feel bad for the season ticket holders who have seen the Chargers go 3-3 at Home this year...Pathetic! Just Pathetic!!!

What makes you think "Better than Ben" = into the pantheon?

Ben Roethlisberger is garbage. Saying someone is better than Roethlisberger is basically like saying they're an above average QB. My question is... how drunk are you, acting like "better than Ben" is even a compliment?

I posted that so you personally could see just how badly the Steelers murdered Cassell.  Roethlisberger threw 2 TDs, Cassell threw none.  Cassell got picked off twice, fumbled twice, and got sacked 4 times.  If you watched the game, you also saw the same thing I did, which was a lot of passes on target that were dropped.  Granted not every single pass was a dropped ball, but your stats are going to decrease when your receivers drop about 4 or 5 passes and you have to throw it away a few times.  There was also the ball that Vrabel tipped at the line, which was just a good play on Vrabel's part because the ball was thrown over him like it should've been.  So let's take out the good play by Vrabel, the dropped passes, and every QBs favorite thing, throwing the ball away, and that's maybe 5 passes AT THE MOST thrown by Roethlisberger in this game that were bad decisions by him alone.  You're just pissed because you can't come to terms with the fact that someone you love to hate outperformed your Patriots, it goes against your incredibly biased beliefs.

Excuse you?  Making fun of team names and cities is the stupidest thing you can do.  Making a reference to the KKK is really ignorant, and I don't care if you think you were trying to joke or not, that was totally uncalled for.

11/30/08

You act like they don't go anywhere else.  Those rallies get overshadowed by the NAACP in these parts and how they act like they're the only race that matters.  That's a discussion for another time though since it has nothing to do with football, which is what this thread is for.  So let's cut the KKK garbage and stick to football.

11/30/08

I never wanted to see Turner go...Not because I don't back up my boy L.T., but because the Chargers needed a guy like Turner to step into L.T.s role this year...L.T was nursing that foot injury, so he could have played the back-up role to Michael Turner all year untill they were both options at starting RB which would have just killed defenses...You can't pass the ball effectively without a good running game...The Broncos came up big today in N.Y. I give them my props as the West Division is now theirs!!!

2 complete failures in this comment...

#1) Ben Roethlisberger is not a football team. He is a quarterback. I repeat, he is not a football team. Therefore, he does not have a winning percentage. So checking it would be useless.

#2) I did not lose to anyone or any team today. I am sitting in a cafe at a Borders bookstore in Hyannis, Massachusetts. I did not take the field at Gillette Stadium for the Patriots. I didn't even really COMPETE in anything today. Therefore, I didn't "lose to a better team".

If you're referring to the Patriots, then so be it. They did indeed lose, and they were indeed the inferior team this year. Congrats to the Steelers and their fans. Your team won a game today. That's wonderful. You should all be so very proud.

Roethlisberger had a solid performance as a rookie too.  Let's see if Flacco continues this for another couple years before making that comparison.

11/30/08

He almost died in 2006.  So uhh yeah, he was bad that year, but for obvious reasons.  Last year he had a career year, and this year he's done well with sore shoulders and whatever other injuries he's had.  He had 2 bad games, which is where all the INTs piled up.  Besides that, he hasn't had a terrible year.  I don't see how you can really say he's progressively declined since 2004 though, especially with how well he performed last year.
