NFL Week 2 Fan Power Rankings
by MrNFL
9/11/07

Obviously, week 1 changed most people's perspective on the season.  Some teams that were supposed to be good looked really bad, some teams that were supposed to be bad looked really good, and then some teams played as expected.   Of course, now it's time for power rankings.  As always, you, the FanIQ'er can input who you think the best 10 and worst 5 teams are for the FanIQ official power rankings, which weekly will be published on Saturdays.  But for now, enjoy laughing at my rankings.

*Note; my early rankings had a lot of teams go up and down.  If you lost to a team much lower, that team is ranked ahead of you after one week, regardless of where you were before.  Teams with losses are more towards the bottom, teams with wins at the top.  So without further wait, enjoy.

TEAM Rank Record +/- Last Game Comment
32 0-1 0 L 34-7 vs PIT Browns looked bad, really really bad.  They got beaten on all sides of the ball, offense got destroyed, D got lit up, and they remain ranked last because of this.
31 0-1 L 36-21 vs DET That defense that was supposed to be strong got dissected by the Lions.  Sure, the offense did score a bit, but the Lions D is still pretty terrible.
30 0-1 0 L 24-3 vs MIN Falcons offense was beyond terrible, two INT's for TDs?  Plus, the D couldn't stop the run at all.  But really, what did you expect?
29 0-1 -6  L 20-6 at SEA  Defense was ok at best, offense was unimpressive as expected.
28 0-1 -10  L 20-3 at HOU  The Chiefs just looked flat out bad.  Entire offense looked like crap, defense wasn't much either,
27 0-1 -1  L 20-17 at SF D looked ok, but that over-hyped offense was very lackluster.
26 0-1 -4  L 16-13 at WAS (OT)  The Dolphins offense is bad...really really bad.  Couldn't stop the run either.
25 0-1 L 45-35 at DAL Giants offense looked pretty good, but the defense was awful, plus 3 key players just got hurt...
24 1-0 W 34-21 at OAK  They did have success offensively, but they still blew a 17-0 lead, and the D wasn't very good.
23 0-1 -10  L 27-13 vs CAR  Rams defense stunk as expected, but a promising offense laid a dud, and now their best player in Pace is hurt.
22 0-1 -12 L 13-10 at TEN  Jaguars D couldn't stop Chris Brown.  Chris Brown.  That's a bad sign, plus they couldn't run.
21 0-1 +7 L 15-14 vs JAC
Bills did keep it close, but weren't exactly impressive in doing so.
20 1-0 +8
W 13-10 vs JAC Defense was solid against the run, and Chris Brown was solid, but I don't trust him to do that consistently, and they still have no passing game
19 1-0 -2 W 16-13 vs MIA (OT)  Defense was solid, running game wasn't bad.  Passing game, eh...
18 0-1 -9
L 16-13 at GB Eagles just looked bad.  Offensively and special teams they were really bad.  D wasn't terrible, but needs to be better.
17 1-0 +11 W 20-3 vs KC  Defense looked pretty good; Mario Williams is living up to his pick.  Offense still needs to prove itself.
16 0-1 -5 L 38-13 vs NE  Jets didn't look so good.  The D got dominated, and the offense was average.  I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that NE is just that good though,
15 1-0 +5 W 24-3 vs ATL  I know it was Atlanta, but the D looked very good.  Run game was solid, pass game, meh.
14 1-0 +5
W 20-17 vs ARI  The improved 49ers defense was that, improved.  The Frank Gore powered offense was not so much.
13 1-0 +8
W 16-13 vs PHI  Packers defense did play pretty well to their credit.  The offense still has a lot of work to do.
12 0-1 -8 L 41-10 @ IND  Going to Indy is tough, but the so-called "Great' Saints offense looked pretty bad.  The D was bad, but that was against the best O in football.
11 0-1  -4 L 27-20 at CIN  Ravens D wasn't bad against a tough Cincy O, but that offense was turnover prone.  That needs to be fixed and fast.
10 1-0 +4 W 20-6 vs TB  Sure, they beat Tampa.  They did what they were supposed to do.
9 1-0 +6 W 34-7 at CLE  Granted it was the awful Browns, but the Steelers looked great on all sides of the ball.  Still want to see this against a good team before I believe.
8 0-1 -4 L 14-3 at SD  Defense shut down Tomlinson, that's incredibly impressive.   Now they have to get an offense...
7 1-0 -4 W 15-14 at BUF  Despite the score, they still had 300+ passing year and Henry averaged 6 a carry.  D was strong, but special teams need help.
6 1-0 +10 W 27-13 at STL  Panthers D was very good, shutting down a very good offense on the road.  Offense was strong too, but I'd like to see them against a good D first.
5 1-0 +7 W 27-20 vs BAL  Defense forced some sloppy turnovers from the Ravens.  Offense was average, but they did face a great D.
4 1-0 +3 W 14-3 at SD  D shut down the Bears offense, but then again, it is the Bears offense.  LDT got stuffed, I'm still not sold on this team.  This week vs NE should be interesting.
3 1-0 +3  W 45-35 vs NYG
The Cowboys offense looks really really good.  Unfortunately, the defense doesn't look so good.  But the offense was fantastic.
2 1-0 -1  W 38-13 at NYJ  Pats offense looked very good passing wise, Brady never got touched.  That defense was very strong, even WITHOUT their best player, and beat up the Patriots.  Yet they lose a spot?
1 1-0 +1 W 41-10 vs NO  We knew the Colts offense would be scary good, and they delivered, but that defense shut down a very good offense completely.  The Colts BARELY take this spot for now from NE; they're dead even, IMO.

There you have it, and of course, make sure to vote for your top ten and bottom 5 in the polls below.  On Saturday, we'll see what FanIQ says the top 5 are.
