Dolphins Flatten Patriots 38-13: If you would have told anyone who pays attention to football that the Dolphins would beat New England by 25 points in Foxboro, they would have had you admitted to a hospital. This game was the Ronnie Brown show, who had a part in all 5 touchdowns. Not only did he run for four and 113 yards, but he also threw a touchdown pass. Pennington completed 17-20, and even the Pothead ran for 98 yards. Cassel was average and the Patriots couldn't run, but the defense is the concern for the Patriots, giving up 461 yards total.Falcons beat Chiefs 38-14; Nobody Cares: Boy are the Chiefs just awful. Larry Johnson played well, but Tyler Thigpen has no busines
s being in the NFL. Even though his line and receivers aren't much help, he's simply AWFUL. Turner and Norwood both ran pretty well (Turner had 3 TDs), and Matt Ryan was a solid 12-18 for 192 yards and a TD. The Falcons are now 2-1, but don't let that fool you. They did beat the Chiefs and Lions.
Vikings Win 20-10 over Panthers; Panic Button Put Away: Those who said the Vikings were done obviously weren't paying attention, because that team still has a very good defense. The D shut down the Panthers running attack, had 5 sacks, and returned a fumble for a TD. Delhomme fumbled 3 times in this one. Frerotte was average in his first start, but that really is to be expected. At 1-2, this team is far from dead.
Redskins Get Home Win Over Cardinals 24-17: I committed the cardinal sin of picking football games. I had faith in the Cardinals. This game wasn't terribly interesting, and I really don't have much analysis. Statistically the game was close, but Jason Campbell did well. Also, the Redskins had time of possession. This was a "meh" game for me.
Titans Stomp Houston 31-12: No surprise here. The Titans D played great again. Although Steve Slaton was able to run on them, they forced three interceptions off of Matt Schaub, including one late for a 99 yard Cortland Finnegan TD. That defense is going to be a force this entire season, provided the Headstomper stays healthy.
Bills Squeak Past Raiders 24-23: The Bills lead the AFC East at 3-0. I am not making that up. Although those on the Bills bandwagon should worry, they barely beat the Raiders. Statistically, this game was unimpressive for both teams, and it was just mediocre football on both sides. But the Bills pulled it out with a 38 yard field goal at the end. NOW will Kiffin get fired? Who knows?
Bengals Scare Giants, But G-Men Win 26-23 in OT: Despite 6 sacks by the Giants D, the Bengal passing game was fairly good keeping them in it. The Bengals D somehow also shut down Brandon Jacobs, but not Derrick Ward. Both teams had the ball in OT, but had to punt on the first drive. The Giants then threw a deep ball that was caught beautifully by Amani Toomer, setting up a chip shot 22 yard field goal by John Carney. Nice effort by the Bengals, showing they actually have a team.
Bucs beat Bears 27-24 in OT: Hard to believe that Tampa could win a game with Brian Griese throwing 65 passes. That's just absolutely absurd. Not impressive by either offense in this game, multiple interceptions. Tampa couldn't run, but the Bears had decent yardage. Antonio Bryant of all people had 100 yards receiving. You have to wonder if the Bears could've won this one with Hester.
