Here are the scores for today's late games:Cardinals Win Crazy OT Game Over the Cowboys: It was a bizarre game to say the least. Early on, it looked like the Cardinals had a 14-0 lead on a fumble recovery TD, but it was called no fumble without much of an explanation. Nick Folk gonged one off of the goal post, and it came down to the Cardinals up by 10 with 3 minutes left. Marion Barber gets a 70 yard pass to make it a three point game. Then, Dallas forces a punt, gets the ball back, and completes one setting up a 57 yard field goal. But when they spiked it, Travis LaBoy was a mile offside, giving them 5 yards and making it a 52 yarder. And the kick barely had enough to force overtime.
Dallas won the toss, which usually guarantees victory. But they had to punt, and Sean Morey flew in and blocked the punt, and Monty Beisel picked it up for a TD to win the game. Romo had 3 touchdowns and 3 fumbles. Neither team could run, but Marion Barber and Steve Breaston each had 100+ receiving. With that, both teams are now 4-2.
Jaguars Over Broncos 24-17: Both starting running backs were injured. However, Maurice Jones-Drew and Michael Pittman each had 100 yards. The Jaguars D was very strong against the pass, as Denver only averaged 5.2 a pass. Garrard was 25-34 for 276 yards. Jones-Drew had two touchdowns. Jaguars are now 3-3 and the Broncos are now 4-2.
Eagles Get Road Win 40-26 Over 49ers: Statistically this game wasn't too lopsided. The 49ers had a chance late too. With less than a minute left, down by a possession, J.T. O'Sullivan threw an interception to DE Juqua Parker who took it to the endzone to end the game. O'Sullivan threw two interceptions and fumbled once. 23 points were scored by Philly in the 4th quarter, who came into it down by 9. With that, the Eagles are 3-3 and the 49ers are 2-4. You also wonder a bit if Mike Nolan is running out of time.
Packers Beat Seahawks 27-17: The Packers had almost double the yardage of the Seahawks despite the struggles of the running game. Ryan Grant had 90 yards, but it took a crazy 33 carries to get it. Time of possession was all Packers however. The mighty Charlie Frye, as expected, was mediocre. 2 touchdowns, but 83 yards and two picks. Packers are 3-3, and Seahawks are a sorry 1-4.
So after six afternoons of football, things are as screwy as ever. In the NFC, the Giants are 4-0 (soon to be 5-0) and then you have a plethora of 4-2. Dallas, Washington, Arizona, Tampa, Atlanta, Carolina are ALL 4-2. Not to mention 5 teams at 3-3.
Then in the AFC, you have the 5-0 Titans on bye, along with the 4-1 Steelers and Bills on bye. The Broncos are 4-2, and perhaps should be 3-3. The Patriots are 3-1, San Diego at 2-3 playing tonight. The Colts and Jets are 3-2, the Jaguars are 3-3 and then you have the rest.
Ah NFL football, you never cease to shock and confuse us.
