Let's look at the 4 late games:Packers Flatten Colts 34-14: Well, so much for the Colts being back. They got absolutely destroyed in this game by Green Bay. The Packers kept running the ball, and Ryan Grant had 105 yards on 31 carries. Rodgers was 21-28 for 186 and a touchdown. But it was the Packer D that was the show, as not only did they hold Peyton Manning to 21-42 and 229 yards, but they got 2 interceptions for touchdowns. And the Colts last TD was in garbage time, so don't be fooled. Also, it was the most penalties in a game ever by a Dungy coached team. The Packers are now 4-3, tied for their division lead, and the Colts are 3-3.
Redskins Beat Browns 14-11: Clinton Portis ran for 175 yards and a touchdown but the Browns were still in it. They held Campbell to 164, but Derek Anderson was a pathetic 14-37 for 136 yards and a TD. The Browns had a chance late too. They could have had their field goal down 11, but they went for it 4th and goal and failed. Then they got a fumble, to give them the TD and two point conversion. And they had the chance to tie it with a 54 yarder. But Phil Dawson missed it, and the aggressive call ultimately cost the Browns the game. Redskins are now 5-2, and the Browns are 2-4.
Texans Beat Lions 28-21: Looking at the numbers, that game shouldn't have been as close as it was. The Texans had time of possession 40:20. Houston ran for 150, while the Lions ran for 77. Matt Schaub was 26-31, with 267 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jason Hanson is a machine for the Lions, the old kicker had TWO 54 yarders, and Calvin Johnson had a 96 yard TD. But Orlovsky was 12-25, and we must remember the Lions are the Lions. Houston is now 2-4, and the Lions are 0-6.
Raiders Top Jets 16-13 in OT: Little success by either offense for the most part in this game. Halfway through the 4th, the Jets tied the game on a Leon Washington run. The Raiders got a field goal with 3 minutes left, and put pressure on the Jets. In the end, they had to settle for a 52 yard field goal. And Jay Feely missed it off of the upright. HOWEVER, Raider coach Tom Cable had to call a timeout right as he kicked it, and of course, Feely made take two to force overtime.
Neither team seemed to want to win in overtime. Lots of punts and dropped passes. No one came close to scoring, until 2:30 in OT. And Sebastian Janikowski came through with a perfect 57 yard field goal to win the game. The Jets had more yards, but 2 Favre interceptions versus no Raider turnovers sealed it. The Raiders are 2-4, and the Jets are 3-3.
