NFL conduct rules vs. Raiders and 49ers game... Ha
8/9/08

I drove past the Mcaffee Colloseum on my way home from work tonight.  From looking at the parking lot you would have thought it was the Superbowl... not preseason -- until I remembered tonight was the Raiders vs. 49ers, in Oakland.

From the highway, which was at a dead stop, you could see people throwing beers at one another, yelling and screaming, and it was hard to believe it was only 6:30 pm.

Now, watching the 10 o;clock news there was a 8 minute segment on the new NFL conduct rules and what that means for Raiders fans.  The coverage also included comments about several brawls that occured at tonights game, as well as reminders that you will be banned for the rest of the year if you break these rules.  Footage clip after clip was shown of cops on the sidelines yelling at folks in the black hole -- and having little affect.  It was rather hilarious.

The newscaster closed with reminding everyone that the NFL didn't create these rules just because of Raiders fans, but that they probably were at the forefront of his mind. :)

Since Brett's trade, I've decided to attend both the Jets vs. 49ers game in December and the Jets vs. Raiders game in October.  Can't wait to see how well these new rules are *cough* working *cough*.

The bottom line is... if these rules are enforced, the Raiders will soon be playing with empty stands -- and with as much money as nfl.com makes off of Raiders apparel... I doubt the rule enforcement will be long lived. *sigh*.
