FanIQ | Sports Rumors, Gossip, Blogs, News & Discussion ForumsWhile many fans couldn’t keep their eyes off the ball during the San Francisco 49ers’ comeback victory over the Atlanta Falcons in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game at Georgia Dome, the league were distracted by Frank Gore, who was showing too much skin in sagging socks. So, the San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore was fined $10,500 by the NFL on Wednesday for wearing his socks too low during Sunday’s 28-24 win over the Atlanta Falcons.

The fine leaves Frank Gore with only $29,500 from his $40,000 pay check for the San Francisco 49ers players’ participation in the NFC Championship Game.

Frank Gore contested he was so absorbed in winning Sunday’s game to take the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl that he really wasn’t that much focused on his socks. But the league takes notice of players’ “failure to conform” to their uniform due to the low socks, and awarded Frank Gore’s sloppiness towards dressing with a hefty fine for such a minor violation.

"When you're playing, you don't think about it," said Frank Gore. "You're trying to win."

It was Frank Gore’s second fine this season, but the seven year veteran learnt from his mistake and hopes not to repeat it again.

"Yeah, I'll be cool,” said Fran Gore. “It's all good. I was wrong. Next time, I'll do better.”

Frank Gore had significant impact on the San Francisco 49ers’ game Thursday rushing 5 and 9 yards for two touchdowns as the team rallied a second half win.  It was Frank Gore’s first game with two rushing touchdowns since the final game of the 2009 season.

The San Francisco 49ers will now have a shot at seizing their sixth title on at the Superdome against Baltimore Ravens on Feb. 3.

The 29-year-old Frank Gore holds the franchise record with 8,839 career rushing yards and 51 touchdowns rushing (51), including 258 carries for 1,1215 yards (sixth career plus 1,000-yard season) and eight touchdowns this season.

So it's more expensive to wear the wrong socks than it is to try and injure another player by sliding in with your foot in the air... Checked priorities recently?

I just can't believe this.  Ridiculous, but I guess that's what I need to expect in professional sports these days.  It's all about the NFL telling us how important the "powers that be" are, not team or player loyalty, rivalries or competition.  Nope it's about pulling up your damn socks.

kinda of true, and sadly this is what they're enforcing on the field these days.
