Former BYU defensive lineman Ezekiel Ansah is projected to be a first-round prospect in the 2013 NFL draft.  But with the draft just around the corner, Ezekiel Ansah faces scrutiny from some scouts, who are questioning the accuracy of his age as listed in various documents.
The concerns being raised about Ezekiel Ansah’s age were first reported after the defensive end looked “old in the face” during at his Pro Day workout at BYU. Hence, to quell the rumors, copies of Ezekiel Ansah’s Ghana issued passport were sent to a select group of NFL teams last week. Sources claimed the documents were provided to the teams by Ezekiel Ansah’s agency, Sunwest Sports.
The documents verify Ezekiel Ansah’s birthdate as May 29, 1989, which makes him 24 towards the end of this month. The Ghana passport was issued on March 1, 2008, shortly before Ezekiel Ansah moved to the United States and enrolled in BYU.
During his initial years at BYU, Ezekiel Ansah unsuccessfully dabbled in various sports before finding football. The 6-foot-5, 271 pound Ezekiel Ansah had never played football before college and had to pick up the sport from grass root level.
However, Ezekiel Ansah is now widely expected to go as high as a top 10 pick in next Thursday’s NFL draft.
Ezekiel Ansah is a raw prospect with a high upside; and while there may be a buzz surrounding his real age it is highly unlikely that such concerns will be a major stumbling block to his stock on draft day.
