I won't pretend to know much of anything about the NHL Draft. But don't take that to mean I have no respect for it. I love baseball yet I probably know less about guys in the MLB Draft every year than I do about guys in the NHL Draft. The truth is, besides the NBA Draft, all of them are way too long, including the NFL Draft. So I watch the first round, then I bolt.

But if you want to stick around for the whole thing, to see which no name Russian gets drafted in the 7th Round and won't play for your team until 2013 because he'll be in the KHL until then, feel free to do that.

John Tavares is the consensus #1 pick, which I'm aware of (just like Stephen Strasburg in the MLB draft), but after that, I'm not familiar with anyone (same was true for me and the MLB Draft).

Anyway, chat it up here, and make wild predictions about how much your team's draft choices will suck.

The Sharks usually draft pretty well, but have traded away recent and future picks to try to win now.  Hasn't exactly worked out just yet, but should be interesting to see guys like John Tavares, Victor Hedman, and Brayden Schenn and where and how they end up.

Also, the NHL draft usually features some notable trades.  Names mentioned so far are Jay Bouwmeester, Thomas Kaberle, Dany Heatley, and Kari Lehtonen (among many others), as well as one of my favorites, Sharks' Center Ryan Clowe.  Should be a very interesting night.

I do like the choices of both Hedman and Kane.  Hedman has already played and excelled in the Swedish Elite League, and Kane is more of a tough enforcer at the Center position who can definitely score too.  If he adds some bulk to that frame, he may be the best guy in the draft 3-4 years down the line.

Some of us were thinking that Dean used his "talk" time congratulating Luc on the Hall of Fame nod. That look on Burke's face and Pronger being traded made up for it though. lol
