Welcome to the Q's NHL Pregame Show. I'm Bryan, and I'm joined by one of my two wonderful co-hostesses Jess this evening. Both of our teams are playing, so we will be glued to the TV picking apart our teams (Pens for me and of course the Ducks for Jess). Anywho, we've got a long way to go and a short time to get there. You know what to do, hop on the Q Train as we depart for a 10-city tour...ALL ABOARD!
We begin near the Falls where the hapless Sabres host the Leafs.
Jess: I don't think the Leafs have any problem pulling this one off. You never now, but I think they've got this one.
BK: This game will be like a home game for Toronto with as many fans as they'll have invading Buffalo's arena. So much for firing Lindy Ruff, they've already fired his replacement. You know he's secretly laughing every day that he wakes up down in Dallas for how bad his former team is...Leafs win.
Toronto Maple Leafs @ Buffalo Sabres: 7:00 PM ET - SportsNet Ontario, MSG Buffalo, Bell TV
Next it's off to Jersey where the Devils host the Kings.
Jess: Are the Devils still stinking up New Jersey? Kings.
BK: The Kings pulled off one hell of a 3rd period comeback up the road last night at Nassau. Can they win both of these NYC area games? I think they can. Devils scoring (or lack thereof) is their demise here, Kings win.
Los Angeles Kings @ New Jersey Devils: 7:00 PM ET - FSN West, MSG+
Pittsburgh is our next stop where the Pens host the Predators.
Jess: I'm so out of it this year, I have no idea what's going on with either team. I know that your Pens were doing great for awhile but have lost a step somewhere along the way. I still think they're better overall right now than the Preds. And Pekka's out with a nasty injury, isn't he? Penguins.
BK: Blood might be thicker than water, but this is the exception to that rule. Sorry sis, while I'm looking forward to seeing Seth Jones, the Pens will NOT lose 4 in a row!
Nashville Predators @ Pittsburgh Penguins: 7:00 PM ET - Sports South, ROOT Pittsburgh
Jess's Ducks are next up as they continue their 2nd east coast swing in Raleigh against the Canes.
Jess: So, they've started off 0-2 on this road swing. Yuck. But, that happened last time too and they finished it off strong. Hoping they can do that again.
BK: Wow, what happened last night? Is Getzlaf going to play? I think that was an anomaly. The Ducks will rebound nicely tonight against a team that I still can't seem to figure out.
Anaheim Ducks @ Carolina Hurricanes: 7:00 PM ET - Prime Ticket, FSN Carolina
Our next stop is Ohio's capital city where the Jackets host the Habs.
BK: I'm feeling the upset here. Montreal is the better team, but I'm picking the Jackets for the win at home as Montreal's new mayor finds more ammo to rip the team apart and piss off the entire city.
Montreal Canadiens @ Columbus Blue Jackets: 7:00 PM ET - RDS, FSN Ohio
We head north of the border for our next stop as the Sens play host to the Bruins.
Jess: This will be a great game! If my Ducks weren't playing (and a ton of other great stuff to watch on Friday night) I would probably watch it. Anyway...I'm picking the Bruins.
BK: This one should be pretty entertaining. I think Boston will keep it close, but ultimately the back-to-back games will tire them out against a team that (unlike the Devils) CAN score consistently. Ottawa wins it.
Boston Bruins @ Ottawa Senators: 7:30 PM ET - NESN, SportsNet East, TVA
Next it's back into the US where the Caps and Wings face off at The Joe.
BK: I refuse to pick this game, I'd rather see the roof cave in...gavomit! However, this game is on NHL Network in the US for your viewing (dis)pleasure.
Washington Capitals @ Detroit Red Wings: 7:30 PM ET - NHL Network (US), CSN Washington, FSN Detroit
We head to the Twin Cities for our next stop as the Wild play host to the Panthers.
Jess: I'm ticked off at Florida right now (though I should be mad at the Ducks, rather,) and I've always kind of liked the Wild. Not that it means a lot when trying to analyze a game and pick a winner, but I think Minnesota is better anyway so I'm picking them.
BK: The dismantling has started in Florida with trading Kris Versteeg back to the Hawks. Expect much more to come the longer this team struggles. For tonight, Wild win and I don't think it's going to be much of a contest.
Florida Panthers @ Minnesota Wild: 8:00 PM ET - FSN Florida, FSN North, FSN Wisconsin
We finish the evening in Canada with a pair of games. First it's the Jets playing host to the Flyers.
Jess: Ya know what? I never pick the Jets. I just noticed that. Well, I'm going to tonight.
BK: The Flyers have won 3 in a row, that streaks comes to a screeching halt tonight. Jets win at home.
Philadelphia Flyers @ Winnipeg Jets: 8:00 PM ET - TCN Philadelphia, TSN Jets
Our night cap takes us to Edmonton where the Oilers host the Sharks.
Jess: Gah. Go Sharks...specifically Hertl.
BK: The Sharks also had a dramatic win last night, stunning the Canucks and winning in OT 2-1. They'll handle the Oilers tonight.
San Jose Sharks @ Edmonton Oilers: 10:00 PM ET - TSN, CSN California
As always, this is your place to come to talk (or bitch) about the game(s) you're watching tonight. Let's get this party started!
