Now we get to our evening games, with the all Canadian match up of the Canadiens against the Leafs. The Leafs are sucking hind......well, they are struggling, so far this year, with only one win to Montreal's six. CBC will of course be broadcasting that game nationwide, although it may not be much of a contest.
At the same time, the Buffalo Sabres meet up with the Islanders, and the Sabres at 8-1-1 should be able to win easily against the Islanders.

Half an hour later, last years champs, the Pittsburgh Penguins take on the struggling Minnesota Wild. Of course, the Pens had to squeak out their last win against the Columbus Blue Jackets in a shoot out, while the Wild scored their first regulation win against the Rangers last night. With momentum, the Wild may not be as easily dispatched as the Pens (and their fans) believe.
Two more games get underway at 8 pm, the Dallas Stars agnd the Nashville Predators, and the Florida Panthers agains the St. Louis Blues.
At 10pm, the Anaheim Ducks meet the so far surprising Phoenix Coyotes. While everyone, including this writer, expected the Coyotes to struggle this year, they haven't had the difficulties we expected, seeming to almost fly under the radar. Conversely, the Ducks, coming off a reasonably well played post season, have struggled. The Ducks have managed only 4 wins this year to the Coyotes 8. For us west-coasters, though, it should still be a fairly good late night game to watch.
Much, much later than normal, and certainly late enough to deter some of our east coast fans, the final game of the night gets underway at 11pm ET. The Calgary Flames welcome the Detroit Red Wings. The Wings haven't had the kind of success this year that they or their fans expect either. Unfortunately, they've also lost Valtteri Filppula for 6-8 weeks due to a broken wrist suffered during the shoot out against Edmonton on Thursday night. To add insult to that injury, the Oilers won that shoot out, and moved into a (short term) tie with Calgary. Calgary is toing to want to expand on the lead they took with Edmonton's loss to Boston earlier today, so look for them to come out all guns blasting. Detroit, in the final game of this road trip, will undoubtedly be glad to get back home.
If you aren't trick or treating, ferrying kids around, handing out candy, or out partying somewhere, join us here for some late night chatter, as Spooktacular, Hallow-hockey Part 2 gets underway.

I'll catch up to hockey again little later on.....
