Saturday saw the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs retire the numbers of two great players in NHL history. Montreal first retired the #33 of Patrick Roy who led the Canadiens to a Stanley Cup Championship in 1986. Though the winningest goaltender in NHL history spent most of his career with Quebec/Colorado, he remains one of the best goalies in the storied history of Montreal. Toronto then sent the #17 of Wendel Clark to the rafters. Clark had three different go a rounds with the Maple Leafs and always found his way back to Toronto. Captain Clark is one of the most beloved in the franchises history.
The San Jose Sharks remain the best team in the league right now while Boston continues to knock on the door. The Sharks are now racking up the goals and Devin Setoguchi has burst into the top five in goal scoring. Marc Savard has done the same for Boston as he is tied with Alex Semin for second in the league in total points.
The top five could very well be shaken up against next week as Detroit plays both Vancouver and Boston this week. Both games are on the road for the Red Wings and will be tough games for all three games.

And now for the rankings…
30.
Tampa Bay Lightning 6-8-6, (1-1-1): The just let New Jersey score seven goals on them in one game. There is no hope. Period.
29.
Florida Panthers 7-11-1, (1-2-0): The PK has been superb; just two goals against the last seven games.
28.
Atlanta Thrashers (-1) 7-10-2, (0-2-0): Just as the Thrashers began to face some semi good teams, they go on a three game losing streak.
27.
Ottawa Senators (-1) 7-9-4, (1-0-2): Best game of the year against the Rangers last week? The better hope more of those games are to come.
26.
St. Louis Blues (+2) 8-8-2, (2-0-0): The Blues have won back-to-back games for the first time in over a month, and they’ve done it with defense.
25.
Dallas Stars (-1) 6-9-4, (0-1-1): They just lost Captain Brendan Morrow for the season. I think it’s safe to say they just lost their season too.
24.
Toronto Maple Leafs (-1) 7-8-5, (0-1-1): After a 5-3-3 start, the Maple Leafs level of play has not gone away, they just can’t seem to win games now.
23.
New York Islanders (+2) 8-10-2, (2-1-0): Though the Islanders have won four of five games, they face virtually the best in the East next week.
22.
Los Angeles Kings 8-8-3, (1-0-1): Ersberg is 5-2-2 since taking over in net and have the Kings just two points out of the playoffs.
21.
Phoenix Coyotes 8-9-2, (0-1-2): The Coyotes have dropped five straight and are only scoring under two goals a game in that span.
20.
Colorado Avalanche 9-10-0, (1-2-0): Still the only team in the league without a loss in the overtime or shootout. Maybe they should take more games there!
19.
Buffalo Sabres (-8) 9-8-3, (0-3-0): The Sabres have lost 7 of 8 games, allowing 4.5 GAA over that span.
18.
Nashville Predators (-1) 10-9-1, (1-2-0): Out of all teams in the league, you cannot get spanked by Tampa Bay. That moves them down a spot.
17.
Columbus Blue Jackets (+1) 9-8-3, (1-1-0): In such a competitive division, the Blue Jackets are going to need to improve their 5 for 55 power play since November 1.
16.
Philadelphia Flyers (+3) 9-6-4, (2-0-0): The Flyers have won four straight games to get back into playoff contention, and Shanny is rumored to sign with them.
15.
Carolina Hurricanes 11-8-2, (2-1-0): Staal netted his 5th career Hat Trick last week, and that’s the guy they need going if they want to win the division.
14.
Calgary Flames (+2) 11-9-1, (2-1-0): The Flames cant be happy with their play as they lost their last two “measuring stick” games 6-1 and 5-2 against SJ and DET.
13.
Edmonton Oilers (+1) 9-9-2, (1-2-0): The Oilers have played a league high 14 road games already, winning 7 of them. That’s not too bad, but it could be slightly better.
12.
Anaheim Ducks (-3) 11-8-3, (1-1-1): The Ducks have only won two of the past six games and have dropped bad games to FLA, DAL, and STL.
11.
Washington Capitals (-1) 11-5-3, (1-2-0): The Capitals are missing Semin and have lost three of four without him.
10.
New Jersey Devils (+2) 11-7-2, (3-0-0): The Devils are scoring 5 GPG on their four game winning streak. That’s a New Jersey team I’d be terrified of.
9.
Chicago Blackhawks (+4) 10-4-5, (3-0-0): While the Hawks picked up some wins against weak opponents; the three game losing streak is over.
8.
Minnesota Wild (-1) 11-6-1, (1-2-0): It’s the same story every week; great defense, and one of the worst offenses. Man do they need Gaborik.
7.
Montreal Canadiens (-1) 11-5-3, (1-1-1): The slumping Canadiens are just 3-4-2 in their past nine games, and they haven’t exactly been playing “tough” opponents.
6.
New York Rangers (-4) 14-7-2, (1-2-0): While the Rangers look like they could fall a few spots as teams catch up to them in games played, they are 5-1 in divisional play. A key to a top three seed.
5.
Vancouver Canucks (+3) 13-6-2, (3-0-1): Luongo was injured in Saturday’s game. Of every injury that could happen to VAN, that’s not the one they wanted. 9-1-2 of late nonetheless.
4.
Detroit Red Wings (+1) 14-2-3, (3-0-0): The team is finally playing more “Red Wing like” hockey. But they’re going to have to keep winning to prove it.
3.
Pittsburgh Penguins (+1) 12-5-3, (1-1-1): The Pens six-game win streak came to an end without allowing a goal to MIN, as Malkin scored on his own net off the faceoff and the Wild won in a shootout.
2.
Boston Bruins (+1) 14-3-4, (4-0-0): The Bruins are on absolute fire right now. I’m glad I have Tim Thomas in my fantasy league.
1.
San Jose Sharks 17-3-1, (2-0-0): The Sharks are averaging 5.5 GPG over the past four games. What can’t they do? Apparently they can even play two teams on one day. According to the NHL schedule, the Sharks were scheduled to play the Caps and the Avs on Saturday. That hardly fazed them, as they crushed the Caps 7-2.
