Blog Photo - NHL Playoffs Game Two [Live Thread]Boston and Detroit haven't played a game yet in the playoffs, so tonight we get our first look at that series.  Boston finished on top in the regular season this year, while Detroit grabbed the fourth spot.  For the first time in 57 years, the two teams face off in the playoffs, due to the reorganization of the divisions.  Not only are the two teams making history with this start, two brothers also face off, giving their parents, and older brother Rory, ulcers in the process.  Reilly Smith of the Boston Bruins plays forward.  Brother Brendan plays defence for the Red Wings, so it is very likely the two will encounter each other constantly on the ice.

Tonight also marks the second meeting for the Montreal Canadiens and the Tampa Bay Lightning.  The Habs won game one in a closely fought battle, and had to do so in OT.  The Bolts have Steve Stamkos back on the ice and he is definitely stepping up doing everything to give them a fighting chance in the series.  The Habs have ace goalie, Carey Price, who helped Canada win the gold in Sochi just a couple of months ago.  Price seems to be able to focus under pressure and this series will not fail to entertain.

Our final game tonight features the Anaheim Ducks and the Dallas Stars and the stand-out name in this series, at least for me, has to be Ryan Getzlaf.  The man took a puck to the face in the last minutes of game one, and the resulting slash to his jaw required "numerous" stitches.  However, he is expected to play in game two.  Oh yeah, and if that wasn't enough, his wife gave birth to their daughter, Willa, just after midnight last night.

In my mind, Getzlaf is already the first star of the game!  The Ducks lead the series 1-0, with a win Wednesday night.  They led 4-0, and although Dallas managed to get themselves back in the game, they fell short by one goal.

Here is the schedule and the link to the Game Centre:

7:00 pm
Montreal Canadiens at Tampa Bay Lightning
CBC, RDS, CNBC, FS-F

7:30 pm
Detroit Red Wings at Boston Bruins
TSN, NBCSN, FS-D, NESN

Oh yeah, and I might have forgotten to mention that a Blues fan flashed her boobs behind the goal, to urge her team on to victory.  It worked and they scored only moments later.  Of course it was all caught on multiple cameras, but we cannot show it here.....

Oh my, tonight's games are quite something!  The Blues take a 2-0 lead over the Blackhawks in their series, while Columbus has tied their series against Pittsburgh, something I never saw coming.

In Colorado, the Avs have jumped ahead 3-1 over the Wild.

Getzlaf shows he won't let a few stitches slow him down and gets a goal, and Perry just ended the drought, putting the Ducks ahead 2-1

Had to take a break to make chicken wings, but what hockey in Boston!!!

I'm prejudiced because of Iginla.  I want Boston to smash Detroit, but so far that isn't happening.  Red Wings scored with three minutes left in the game, the first goal in the game.  Dammit.  Great game tho.

The Habs head home with a two game lead, winning 4-1 over the Bolts.

One period down in Tampa Bay, so channel change to Boston and Detroit, also tied at zero.
