We begin our tour in Buffalo where the Sabres play host to the Flyers, and this game is on NBC Sports Network for your viewing pleasure.
BK: In all likelihood, this is probably a knock out game. Both teams still have a mathematical chance of making the playoffs, but the clock is ticking. They both need to go on a winning streak and get some help from the teams above them. The Sabres and Flyers are 11th and 12th in the East respectively, and if one loses in regulation, it's most likely time to start scheduling tee times. That said, you know damn well I ain't pickin' the Flyers!
Philadelphia Flyers @ Buffalo Sabres - 3:00 PM ET - NBC Sports Network, CSN Philadelphia, MSG Buffalo
At the same time we have another face-off in the Mile High City as the Avs play host to the Canucks.
BK: The Avs have nothing left to play for except the role of spoiler. They've officially hit the point of no return this year. However, just because they're a great deal better at home than on the road, I'm going to take them for my upset pick of the day over the Sedin twins.
Vancouver Canucks @ Colorado Avalanche - 3:00 PM ET - SportsNet Pacific, Altitude
After these two games we have time for a little dinner break before the next wave of games begins at 7:00. First up, a meaningful Original Six battle at the ACC between the Habs and Leafs. This is on NHL Network in the US for your viewing pleasure as well.
Jess: I like to think the Leafs can pull this off tonight. Calling the upset - they take it at home.
BK: Wow, for the first time in nearly a decade, this game means something for the Leafs! They haven't made the playoffs since 2004, and they have a 5-point lead over 9th place with 8 games to go entering tonight. This is one of many choices for game of the night, and it's going to be one hell of a dogfight! The Habs have clinched a playoff berth but the division still hangs in the balance. I'm taking the Leafs to pull off the win in front of the home crowd tonight.
Montreal Canadiens @ Toronto Maple Leafs - 7:00 PM ET - CBC, RDS, NHL Network (US)
Next we're off to the Island where another shocker showcases a meaningful game between the Rangers and Isles!
Jess: I have to say the Rangers. I'm not confident - not even a little bit - but I'm picking with my heart with this one.
BK: The Isles haven't made the playoffs since 2007, and this game is huge for both teams. They sit 7th and 8th respectively, and for matters of knocking the Devils down a little more, I'm praying this game goes to OT so they both get at least a point. I think King Henrik will be the deciding factor in this one though, Rangers get the 2 points.
New York Rangers @ New York Islanders - 7:00 PM ET - MSG, MSG+
Next up, we're headed to our Nation's Capital where the Bolts travel to meet the Caps.
Jess: Yea, Caps.
BK: The Bolts can't lose them all, can they? Yeah they can. Even though I'd love to see the Bolts pull off the upset, I don't see it happening, Caps win.
Tampa Bay Lightning @ Washington Capitals - 7:00 PM ET - SUN, CSN Washington
From there it's off to Raleigh where the Canes host the Bruins.
Jess: What is going on with the Hurricanes? I expected them to be at least fighting for a playoff spot at this point if not comfortably in. And Boston...well...unless Carolina has a crazy game or Boston lays an egg, the Bruins have this.
BK: Wow, the Canes have taken the plunge and it doesn't look like there's any end in sight. Boston blows this one out of the water on the road.
Boston Bruins @ Carolina Hurricanes - 7:00 PM ET - NESN, FSN Carolina
Let's keep it down South where the Pens complete their road trip against the Panthers.
Jess: lol Penguins.
BK: Last time these teams played, the Panthers won even though they blew a 4-goal lead in half a period. It hasn't been pretty for this team even though they've put a few wins together lately. That said, the Pens are not going to let the Panthers beat them twice in one season.
Pittsburgh Penguins @ Florida Panthers - 7:30 PM ET - ROOT Pittsburgh, SUN
Quickly let's make our way up to the Twin Cities where the Wild host the Blue Jackets.
Jess: I know the Wild are the better team here, but Columbus continues to impress me over these past several weeks. I'm saying Blue Jackets.
BK: A win for Columbus would put them into a tie with the Wings for the final playoff spot in the West...say WHAT?! Minnesota is starting to stumble just a bit, but I think they can win this one on home ice. The Jackets may get a point out of it though.
Columbus Blue Jackets @ Minnesota Wild - 8:00 PM ET - FSN Ohio, FSN North, FSN Wisconsin
At the same time we have a face-off in Big D between the Stars and the Sharks.
BK: Dallas could also pull into a tie with the Wings if they win tonight, but I don't think they're going to be able to handle the Sharks who are on fire right now. Sharks get a huge road victory.
San Jose Sharks @ Dallas Stars - 8:00 PM ET - CSN California, FSN Southwest+
We have a Western Canada battle next between the Oilers and Debi's Flames.
Jess: Let's go Flames!
BK: Flames win and make my co-host happy.
Calgary Flames @ Edmonton Oilers - 10:00 PM ET - CBC
Finally, we have a real night cap as the battle of SoCal squares off at Staples. This is also on NHL Network for an up all night party on the East Coast.
Jess: *Sigh* The Ducks were able to take it to the shootout last time, but I'm about sick of these guys not playing the entire 60 minute game.
BK: Ooh I'm torn, Jess's Ducks and Becky's Kings! I'm thinking this one might go to the Kings but both teams may end up getting at least a point out of it.
Anaheim Ducks @ Los Angeles Kings - 11:00 PM ET - NHL Network (US), KDOC, Prime Ticket
Jess: I missed hockey last night, and I'll just assume that some of you did too. Let's take a look at a recap!
As always this is your place to talk (or bitch) about the game(s) you're watching this afternoon and into the night!
