13 Games in One Night? It Must Be an NHL Saturday! [NHL Live Thread]
As mentioned, Chicago and Winnipeg began at 3:00 ET on the NHL Network. This game is well in progress already, and the Hawks are beating the Jets pretty handedly at the moment. I can't say I'm surprised, but let's get a move on for our 7:00 games.
Jess's Ducks are in Buffalo for our first stop this evening. Poor poor Sabres, Ducks win this one in a laugher.
Anaheim Ducks @ Buffalo Sabres: 7:00 PM ET - MSG Buffalo, FSN West
Next we go to Tampa where the Bolts host the Blues. This gets my pick for game of the night out of all our early evening matchups. Both teams are playing exceptionally well. I'm going to give the nod to the home team here, Bolts win, though I wouldn't be shocked to see OT in this one.
St. Louis Blues @ Tampa Bay Lightning: 7:00 PM ET - FSN Midwest, SUN
Next we're off to Newark...never thought I would say this about a game between the Devils and Flyers, but WOOF! Also, I refuse to pick.
Philadelphia Flyers @ New Jersey Devils: 7:00 PM ET - TCN Philadelphia, MSG+2
We don't have to go too far for our next game as all 3 NYC area teams are at home tonight. Our next game is on the Island where those Isles host the visiting Bruins. I will take Boston in this one, though it won't be easy!
Boston Bruins @ New York Islanders: 7:00 PM ET - NESN, MSG+
Let's hightail it over to MSG where the Rangers host the Canes. Neither team has impressed me so far, but being on home ice at the newly-remodeled arena with buzzer still intact, Rangers win!
Carolina Hurricanes @ New York Rangers: 7:00 PM ET - MSG, FSN Carolina
We then head to our Nation's Capital where the Caps host the Panthers. Washington shutout the Flyers 7-0 last night in Philly! They should be able to tame the Cats tonight, Caps win it.
Florida Panthers @ Washington Capitals: 7:00 PM ET - FSN Florida, CSN Washington
Let's head to Columbus where the Pens and Jackets complete the second half of their home-home. Last night the Jackets threw everything at Fleury and he was sensational, whereas Bobrovsky got pulled for being very leaky. I have a bad feeling the Pens will go with rookie Jeff Zatkoff here, but I'm still staying with them and picking them for the sweep of this back-to-back set.
Pittsburgh Penguins @ Columbus Blue Jackets: 7:00 PM ET - RDS, ROOT Pittsburgh, FSN Ohio
Next it's way out to Vancouver where the Canucks host the Leafs on Hockey Night in Canada. This one is on NHL Network in the US for your viewing pleasure. I am going to take the Leafs for an impressive road win.
Toronto Maple Leafs @ Vancouver Canucks: 7:00 PM ET - CBC, NHL Network (US)
Next we're headed to Denver for the first of our late games. The Avs host the Habs tonight. This one should be a hell of a game, Patrick Roy's two former teams facing off against each other. I have to take Colorado in this one, though I feel it will go down to the wire.
Montreal Canadiens @ Colorado Avalanche: 10:00 PM ET - CBC, RDS, Altitude
We head to Edmonton next where the Oilers host the Wings. Detroit is 11-0-1 in their last 12 games against the Oilers...they're due, right? I'm taking Edmonton as my upset pick of the evening.
Detroit Red Wings @ Edmonton Oilers: 10:00 PM ET- CBC, FSN Detroit
We finish the night in California, first in L.A. where the Kings host the predators. I'm torn between this one. I want to pick the Preds for my Q sister, but I don't think they will beat the Kings at Staples. Kings win.
Nashville Predators @ Los Angeles Kings: 10:30 PM ET - FSN Tennessee, FSN West
Finally, we finish at the Shark Tank as San Jose hosts the Coyotes. This will be one exciting game also. I can't really bet against the Sharks on home ice though.
Phoenix Coyotes @ San Jose Sharks: 10:30 PM ET - FSN Arizona, CSN California
As always, this is your place to talk (or bitch) about the game(s) you're watching this afternoon and into the night. Let's get this party started!
