Chicago gets handed a loss by the Ducks, but neither team play tonight
Tonight features a whole new slate of games, and there are some good matchups. Here's our schedule, all times Eastern.
Toronto Maple Leafs (16-12-2) at Buffalo Sabres (11-15-4)
Broadcast: SNET-O, MSG-B
Jess: Hmm I've gotta go with the Leafs again tonight.
Bryan: The Leafs might've played last night, but the Sabres are worse than the Bolts. Toronto SHOULD win this, but there's always the chance...nah I can't do it, Leafs win.
Debi: The Leafs won against the Tampa Bay Lightning, while the Sabres most recent win was over the very strong Montreal Canadiens. They are fighting for position in the standings, but the Sabres have home ice advantage. I gotta go with Buffalo.
Montreal Canadiens (19-5-5) at New York Islanders (13-13-3)
Broadcast: RDS, MSG PLUS
Jess: For some reason I want to call an upset here, though I don't know why. What have I got to lose? Isles.
Bryan: Yikes, back-to-back home games against the Habs and Pens?! I'm sorry for the Isles, but tonight and tomorrow probably won't be pretty.
Debi: What is it about the Isles that Montreal just can't seem to handle this year? They haven't managed to win even one of the games the two teams have played this year. This one is the third and final game. Can Montreal put it together enough to win tonight? I'm a little doubtful, given that they went to OT against the Sabres the other night. Eenie Meenie Miney Mo. Aw crap, I'll stick with the Habs.k
Florida Panthers (8-16-6) at New York Rangers (15-12-2)
Broadcast: FS-F, MSG
Jess: If the Rangers can't beat the Panthers at home, they're in more trouble than I thought.
Bryan: Rangers in a laugher, this one will be lopsided.
Debi: Poor Panthers. They just can't seem to get it together. The Rangers are having some difficulty as well, but seem to have found something in the past couple of games. I think they will keep it going tonight.
New Jersey Devils (13-11-6) at Carolina Hurricanes (15-12-2)
Broadcast: NHLN-US, MSG PLUS 2, FS-CR
Jess: Can I make my pick based on an either/or scenario? I'm going to say if Brodeur plays tonight the Devils win in a nail biter. If he doesn't, Hurricanes win in a yawner.
Bryan: I don't know if Brodeur is playing or not, but I still think the Canes can win this either way.
Debi: Gotta take the 'Canes for the series sweep.
Boston Bruins (19-6-3) at Ottawa Senators (16-8-6)
Broadcast: NESN, SNET-E, TVA
Jess: This should be a really good game. I've gotta call it for the Sens, just because.
Bryan: Oh wow, easily my pick for game of the night! This is a tough pick, both teams are playing very well. I'm gonna take the Sens on home ice, but I can see this one going to OT.
Debi: Might be the game of the night. While Boston has won both of the previous two games this season, the last one took a shoot out. Ottawa has been plagued with injuries this year, yet have managed to find their way into the W column a lot more than anyone expected. Can they do it tonight? I'm betting on it.
Washington Capitals (12-16-1) at Winnipeg Jets (16-12-2)
Broadcast: CSN-DC, TSN-JETS
Jess: Poor Caps. Jets win, but I think it could be a battle.
Bryan: Ready for more crazy scheduling? These two are right back at it in Winnipeg again tomorrow night! If the Kings and Coyotes are any indication, this could get pretty nasty. I gotta take the Jets to keep the Caps reeling.
Debi: Oh I so don't want to pick this game. The Caps won when the visited the Jets, and the Jets won when they visited the Caps. Every time I pick against the Jets, they win. But, they are hosting, sooooo...... ARGH!! We'll do eeny meeny again....Jets it is.
Calgary Flames (11-12-4) at Nashville Predators (11-13-6)
Broadcast: SNET-W, FS-TN
Jess: ooh this is going to be a great game! This could very well be a beautiful goalie battle - I'll probably want to catch some of this one between NCAA Basketball games. I think the Preds win but I'm not confident.
Bryan: Ruh-roh, do I side with my co-host or my Q sister? Rinne is probably going to be his usual shut em down self, and sorry Debi, but blood is thicker than water. I gotta go with the Preds.
Debi: Sometimes it is so very hard being a Flames fan. My only hope tonight is that new dad, Mikka Kiprusoff, will have some new found desire to win that will rub off on his teammates. I won't go against my Flames, but this isn't going to be a pushover the way the last meeting was.
Vancouver Canucks (14-9-6) at Phoenix Coyotes(13-13-4)
Broadcast: SNET-P, FS-A
Jess: Ehhhmmm Coyotes are at home; I guess that seals it for me. Yotes.
Bryan: Neither team impresses me, but seeing the Canucks aren't playing this game in the comforts of home, I'm taking the Coyotes to win it.
Debi: Need I say?
Dallas Stars (13-13-3) at Los Angeles Kings (17-10-2)
Broadcast: FS-SW, FS-W
Jess: Need *I* say?
Bryan: The Kings will be the ones shining tonight at Staples, the Stars will feel like they had ninja stars thrown at their heads.
Debi: Guilty or not, I still like the Kings better. Go Kings!
I don't know if any of tonight's games will be as exciting as the Ducks defeating the Blackhawks last night. Both of those teams have tonight off, but no doubt both are busy fueling up for the next game. If you aren't much of a basketball fan, I'm sure you can find some sports entertainment of the hockey variety tonight. Join us!
