NHL Tuesday Night Live Thread 11/10

2 Canadian Battle Royales, A Clash of the Titans in Boston, and A Visit to the Shark Tank [NHL Live Thread]

11/10/09 in NHL   |   kramer   |   11004 respect

On this night before we honor our veterans, there are 6 games throughout the NHL.  There aren't very many games, but they're big games nonetheless.  Jump starting the night is a clash of 2 eastern conference powerhouses, as the 2 black and gold teams face off.  Both the Pens and Bruins have struggled.  The Bruins haven't been able to get the puck behind the goalie recently, and the Pens are coming off the first back-to-back losses under Dan Bylsma.  2 more teams that are struggling far worse than the Pens and Bruins are the Wild and Leafs, who will square off in Toronto.  Then there are 2 big games between Canadian teams.  The first is a matchup in Montreal between the Habs and Flames.  If that's not enough, the Oilers will be facing a big test in Ottawa when they battle the Senators.  One more Canadian team is in action tonight, and that's the Canucks, who will be facing the Blues in St. Louis.  Finally, the night capper showcases the anemic Predators who will be bombarded at the Shark Tank out in San Jose.  Here's tonight's full lineup.

7:00 PM ET:
Pittsburgh Penguins @ Boston Bruins
Minnesota Wild @ Toronto Maple Leafs

7:30 PM ET:
Calgary Flames @ Montreal Canadiens
Edmonton Oilers @ Ottawa Senators

8:00 PM ET:
Vancouver Canucks @ St. Louis Blues

10:30 PM ET:
Nashville Predators @ San Jose Sharks

As always, come join us right here and talk (or vent) about the game(s) you're watching tonight.

Pens get a PP with 20 seconds to play and the Bruins clear, all the way into the empty net.  Pens have now gone 7 straight periods without scoring a goal, and they'll get shutout again Thursday night against the Devils if they keep playing like this.  They obviously can't win without all their injured players, matter of fact they can't even make a game out of it.  They need their injured players back like yesterday or they're in big time hot water.

you're singing the same song I was for the past week-2 weeks with the bruins. But, thanks to your Pens, the B's are just regaining their confidence.

UGH i go out one night and miss probably the best or second best B's game so far this year. (I saw "The Fourth Kind" movie, fyi. Pretty freaky stuff.)

Man I hope the injury to Orpik isn't serious. Thats 3 out of 6 defensemen to start the season that would be out. Our top two if Orpik misses some time. With Geno, Kennedy and Talbot out too thay are a completely different team.

How about those Bruins?  Shutting down the Stanley Cup champs!  Hope this is the start of the same turnaround they had about this time last year!  Go Bs!

Oilers and Senators are tied 2-2, after 2 periods.

2-0 Bruins, obviously another game over for the Pens and their 3rd loss in a row.  This team clearly needs Malkin back BADLY, and FAST!

1-0 Bruins after 2 periods.  The Pens have now gone 6 periods without a goal.

I wonder if St. Louis's goal horn is getting worn out like Chicago's last year.

The Pens are at least starting to get some pressure and get the the puck on net.

/small victory

Oilers are up 2-1 in the 1st period. Hope they win they haven't won a game in Ottawa in 7 years.

Orpik is out for the rest of the game.  I really believe opposing teams are purposely trying to take shots at the Pens because they're the defending champs and they can't be beaten at full strength.

Bruins get the goal, now they have to put the time back on the clock.  The Pens clearly cannot do anything right without Malkin.

Review coming up, the horn sounded but the ref said the puck hit the crossbar behind Fleury.

It boggles my mind how many big names are hurt right now.

With all the injuries, Bylsma has really fubarred the lines.  Orpik went to the locker room early in the first period.

The Pens game is on VS.  I could try to find a live feed, but I get to listen to Mike Lange so it's all good.
