It's just that big a deal.
Sidney Crosby returned to hockey 4 games ago and has amassed 9 points in those games. The Penguins weren't too shabby before Crosby returned, but many claim, with him back, the Pens are heading for another Stanley Cup. Personally, even though they are on top in the NHL, I wouldn't want to jump that far ahead in the predictions. (Yes, Bryan, I know you already have them winning the Cup).
Beating the Rangers isn't going to be a walk in the park, though. They are coming off back to back wins, beating the Washington Capitals and the Philadelphia Flyers. Without Mark Staal on the roster, it will be more of a challenge.
The Flyers are resting tonight, but the Caps are back to work against the St. Louis Blues, for the only time this season. The Caps have a new coach in Dale Hunter. Boudreau was released as coach as the Caps lost 8 out of 11 of their last games.
The Blues also have a relatively new coach, and the change has paid off, with them winning 7 since the hiring of Ken Hitchcock. Washington will also have a challenge tonight.

For a change, I do get to see my Calgary Flames play. They line up against the Nashville Predators tonight, and while neither team is having a stellar year, Nashville has managed a couple of ties, and sits 4-2-2 to Calgary's 4-4-0. At least I get to watch them play against a team they might have a chance with. They beat the Wild in their most recent game, while the Preds beat the Oilers in the third game of their 5 game road trip.
The lineup for the night looks like this:
All times Eastern
7:00pm
New York Islanders at Buffalo Sabres
St. Louis Blues at Washington Capitals
Florida Panthers at Caroline Hurricanes
7:30pm
Pittsburgh Penguins at New York Rangers
8:30pm
Ottawa Senators at Winnipeg Jets
Phoenix Coyotes at Chicago Blackhawks
9:30pm
Nashville Predators at Calgary Flames
10:30pm
Columbus Blue Jackets at Vancouver Canucks
So make your picks, talk some trash, follow the games, and join in here for all the fun.

The only goal scored by newbie Derek Smith proved to be the only one the Flames needed - final score 1-0. Also the Canucks defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-1, with Cory Schneider getting the win in goal. Only one of the ginger twins managed a goal.
Blue Jackets take on the Flames next.

I know they ruled a high stick on the puck on Cooke, but I never heard a whistle and the Rangers punched it into their own goal. If you ask me, that's a good goal when the defender puts it in himself and the play has yet to be blown dead.

In the Flames game, Christ Butler takes a puck to the cheek and is off to the dressing room. One more reason to wear a shield.

Unfortunately, the Caps weren't able to pull off the win, and give it up to the Blues, 2-1.

Avery got a little bit of his own medicine. Hate to see any player hurt, but honestly, it bothers me just a little less when it is Avery.

I'm not buying my Stanley Cup championship gear yet, Debi.
I'm impressed by what they did before he came back, and I do agree that this makes them even better. However, that high hope is under the assumption that the core 4 stay healthy, and there's still a long way to go. That said, LET'S GO PENS! I'm certainly hoping they kill the Rangers at MSG tonight.
