Red Wings Win Game Two 2-1.
Coming into the game, Johan Franzen was announced to be a scratch due to a concussion. (He'll miss game 3 too) Despite the playoffs' leading goal scorer, Detroit was still able to win. Statistically, Detroit controlled the game, with 34 shots to Dallas' 18, as well as more hits and many more faceoff victories. All of the games' three goals were scored in the first period, in which Detroit took 12 shots to Dallas' 4.
5 and a half minutes in, Dallas had a rare 4-on-1 opportunity. The shot was missed, and Detroit took it and scored. Darren Helm scored his first ever NHL goal to give the Red Wings a 1-0 lead. Later in the period, Dallas would score on a powerplay, as Stephane Robidas scored on a big one-timer. Detroit would match with their own one-timer powerplay goal to reclaim the lead, this one by Henrik Zetterberg.
Both teams would go back and forth in the 2nd and 3rd, but neither would score again, giving Detroit a 2-1 win. Lots of fighting at the end though. Steve Ott with 5 seconds left in the game ripped off Kris Drapers helmet after a faceoffs, earning him a misconduct. Then, as time expired, the back of Chris Osgood's stick caught Mike Ribeiro, and Ribeiro decided to turn around and slash Osgood across the chest with the clock at zero, leading to more fighting. Of course, this stupidity by Ribeiro will probably earn him a suspension.
Detroit leads the series 2-0, and they go to Dallas for game 3 on Monday night.
