Who’s one step closer to hoisting Lord Stanley? The Wrap-Around is your daily update for last nights’ NHL Playoff action.Red Wings Win 5-2, Lead Series 3-0.
Low offense game in terms of shots. Detroit gave up 18 shots, which is a typical day for Osgood to face. Detroit only had 21 shots, however they had their way a bit with Marty Turco, although he didn't get a huge amount of help from his teammates. Although Dallas had double the hits, they had 26 giveaways to the Red Wings 13.
The first goal wouldn't come until halfway through the first period. Pavel Datsyuk gave the Red Wings a 1-0 lead. Dallas would tie it a few minutes later on a Nicklas Grossman goal. The crowd was on their feet, but were quickly quieted as Datsyuk scored less than a minute later, giving Detroit a 2-1 lead after one. Early in the second period, Brad Richards scored on a deflection to tie the game. Jiri Hudler would score on a breakaway halfway through to give Detroit a 3-2 lead. After five crazy minutes of uninterupted hockey towards the end of the second, lots of scoring chances and no-calls, the second came to an end 3-2.
Detroit would take a 4-2 lead early in the third on a shorthanded goal. Henrik Zetterberg absolutely owned a Dallas defender and Turco for the goal. Late in the 3rd, to seal the deal, Datsyuk scored again, giving him a hat trick and giving the Red Wings a 5-2 win. With that, Detroit now leads 3-0 and looks to get the sweep Wednesday in game 4.

In other NHL news, getting your team the 2 seed is worthless in the NHL, as the Sharks fired coach Ron Wilson. If you don't win in the playoffs, you'll get the boot it seems. He's had success in his career, and I'm sure he'll find a job.
Can the Flyers get back into the series, or will the Penguins keep rolling?
