Who’s one step closer to hoisting Lord Stanley? The Wrap-Around is your daily update for last nights’ NHL Playoff action.Stars Beat Red Wings 3-1.
Detroit controlled the shots as they always seem to do, shooting 34 times to the Stars 22. Marty Turco was fantastic in net for the Stars, as it seemed like nothing would go in. A big stat in this one was Dallas's 24 takeaways to the Red Wings 9.
Dallas actually led in shots in the first period, with 9 to Detroit's 5. However, neither teams scored a goal. It appeared that the games first goal was scored by Pavel Datsyuk in the 2nd period, however they called it a no goal, claiming Tomas Holmstrom was in the crease. (Replays clearly showed that he wasn't in the crease, but apparently they don't review this for some reason) Detroit had 14 shots to Dallas' 6 in the period, but the games' first goal would be scored by the Stars with 23 seconds left. Loui Eriksson got the goal as it deflected off of him.
Detroit tied it up very quickly in the 3rd, as Henrik Zetterberg scored on a 3-on-2. Dallas would reclaim the lead 5 minutes later on a powerplay goal scored by Mike Modano. The Stars would put the game out of reach at 14:34 on a Brendan Morrow goal. Despite 15 shots to Dallas's 7 in the 3rd, the Stars didn't give up another goal, winning the game 3-1. The series is now 3-1, and game 5 will be in Detroit on Saturday afternoon.
