Who’s one step closer to hoisting Lord Stanley? The Wrap-Around is your daily update for last nights’ NHL Playoff action.Flyers Win 4-2, Still Down 3-1 In Series.
Looking at the basic stats, this game was pretty even overall. The Penguins actually had more shots than the Flyers (38-34). Pittsburgh's 18 giveaways to the Flyers 11 played a large role in this one. Martin Biron was great in net, and Marc-Andre Fleury was solid himself.
The Flyers came out of nowhere with the start. Before you knew it, it was 3-0 after the first period. Joffrey Lupul scored the first goal 9 minutes in to the game. A few minutes later, Daniel Briere scored on a powerplay, and they scored another powerplay goal towards to end of the period by Jeff Carter. The Flyers wouldn't score again until a late empty net goal. No goals were scored in the 2nd, but Pittsburgh attempted their comeback in the 3rd. Jordan Staal scored twice, first at 3:16, and second at 14:11. But it would not be enough, as the Flyers would win 4-2.
Of course, after the empty netter, the game never seemed like it would end, since they just continued to fight, and fight, and fight some more. Game 5 is going to be a very interesting game, and expect plenty of fights. The series is 3-1, game 5 is on Sunday in Pittsburgh.
