Each day during the NHL Playoffs, the Wrap Around will be here to recap the action from last night in the quest for the Stanley Cup.
Ducks even series with 4-3 overtime win. Ducks had the shots by a bit in this game, 33-27. They had so many good scoring chances, it took Hasek robbing them a few times to keep them at 4 goals. The Ducks had more hits, while the Red Wings were better on faceoffs.
The Ducks had many very good chances in the 1st period, but it took them 17 minutes to finally score on a Rob Niedermayer goal. That gave them a 1-0 lead after a period. The Wings played better in the 2nd period, and Kirk Maltby scored a shorthanded goal halfway through the period. But not much later, Andy McDonald would score on a goal at the very end of a powerplay to give the Ducks a 2-1 lead. But the Wings would tie it before the end of the 2nd, on a powerplay goal by Nicklas Lidstrom.
The 3rd was dead even on shots, both with 10. At the very beginning of the 3rd, Pavel Datysuk scored on powerplay to give the Wings a 3-2 lead. But Travis Moen would score after 5 minutes to tie the game. No one else scored, and they headed to overtime. Both teams grinded it out and they got 14 minutes through overtime when Scott Niedermayer scored the game winning goal for the Ducks.
The series is tied at 1-1 now, game 3 is in Anaheim on Tuesday at 9 PM. (Vs.)
