As we get closer and closer to the Stanley Cup finals, the Wrap-Around is here to recap last nights Conference final action.
Ducks finish series with 4-3 win. Overall, shots were even, but the Ducks controlled the 1st and 2nd, while the Wings had the 3rd. The Ducks have now punched their ticket to the Stanley Cup Finals against Ottawa.
The first two periods were filled with Duck dominance. They controlled shots 24-13, and the Wings just looked lost. The Ducks first goal was shorthanded, Rob Neidermayer got the rebound from a hard Pronger shot. Then in the 2nd, Corey Perry got a goal, and Ryan Getzlaf had a powerplay goal towards the end of the period. It was 3-0 after two, the Wings looked dead.
They would try to mount a comeback in the 3rd. They outshot the Ducks 16-3. Henrik Zetterberg scored quickly, but the Ducks matched on a Pahlsson goal. The Wings would get two more goals before the game was done, both on powerplays, and both scored by Pavel Datsyuk, But it wouldn't be enough, as the Ducks held on 4-3.
The Ducks have ended this series in 6 games, and they now go on to face Ottawa for the ultimate prize. The NHL's scheduling is very stupid though, game 1 is next MONDAY at 8 PM (VS).
Player of the Night: Ryan Getzlaf, 1 goal, 1 assist.
That's all for the Wrap-Around, see you Monday.
