/sad trombone is coming after this weekend...

But this weekend is one helluva sports weekend!  Stanley Cup Game 7, UFC 99, Possible Finals closeout, not to mention the first weekend of Interleague ball in the MLB along with some other shenanigans sounds pretty good.  But after this, I may actually have to start getting off of my a$$ on these summer weekends...

I would agree for the most part, but I want to see just how bad Smokin' Joey Villasenor pounds Evangelista Santos.  I'm a little disappointed the UFC didn't decide to give this fight for free since it is in Germany and feature no title fights, I think the PPV buys will be under 500,000.

They have deemed Franklin vs. Silva as "The Must-See Fight that UFC Fans Everywhere Have Been Waiting For," which I think is quite the overstatement.  If Silva loses, he is done, and this is a Catchweight fight.  Franklin however, needs a win to recover from the screwjob he got when he fought Dan Henderson.  Should be a good striking match, but definitely not the fight they have tabbed it to be.  Definitely one I will go to Hooter's or Buffalo Wild Wings to watch though.

You are correct sir.  I meant the rivalry matchups, since the first go around a couple of weeks ago was very mediocre.  These rivalry ones are the fun ones to watch and to go to.

I don't remember who all the other teams played, but Minnesota played their rival team of Milwaukee at the Dome a few weeks ago..Seeing thousands of Twins fans today in Wrigley including a standing ovation in the bottom of the 9th for Joe Nathan isn't something I'm used to, but sure was fun to watch.

That plus the fact that they still havent made up for the debacle that was Silva/Cote.

Yes, very true.  The A's played the D'Backs, which would've been neat maybe 3 years ago, but it was very boring baseball when it happened.  I guess the Dodgers did play the Angels, which were decent games, but I was also in Vegas that weekend, so my focus was elsewhere.  With the A's dominance over the Giants, I especially love this series, even more so 20 years after the A's swept the Giants in the '89 World Series.

Yeah, debacle doesn't even begin to describe that nonsense.  And poor Cote is dropping further and further down the ladder in the Middleweight division the longer he is not fighting.  They seem to feel Silva doesn't want to fight much longer either, so they are making him their circus sideshow, switching him between weightclasses every other fight too.  But who knows, I still don't think there is a Middleweight that can even stand in the ring with Silva right now.

I'm looking forward to this weekend. First, we get a matchup between the #1 and #4 teams in the last Q power poll, Dodgers/Rangers (possible WS preview? LOL!)

And for those of us who like that quaint little other fighting sport, boxing, Miguel Cotto vs Joshua Clottey on Satruday is going to be one heck of a fight. All this action is happening at the Welterweight (147 lb) division, which puts the winner of this fight right in the mix with Money Mayweather, Pac Man, Sugar Shane, Paul Williams and Andre Berto.

In fact. Cotto (33-1) and Clottey (35-2) are the #2 and #4 Welterweights in the world behind Sugar Shane. So this is basically an elimination fight, with the winner likely to get a championship shot.
