NHLRound One Playoffs [Live Thread}
Could The Playoffs be OVER for Some Tonight? [NHL Playoffs Live Thread]
Conceivably, it could be all over but the crying.  The St. Louis Blues could be booking tee times as early as tomorrow morning.

Five games are on tap tonight, two of them critical to the survival of teams into round two.  Philadelphia played strong, as we expected, and came back within one of the Penguins,  Tonight they need to even the score.  Detroit has dominated Columbus and the Blue Jackets also need to win, to remain a contender.  With the way Detroit has been playing, that might be tough to do, but the Blue Jackets fought hard to get into the Playoffs, look for them to come out strong, trying to stay in.  IT may not be enough, as the Red Wings have been virtually flawless.

The Devils and the Hurricanes meet up for their fourth game in the series tonight, with the Devils in a one game lead, and Vancouver looks to shut the Blues right out of the playoffs in a four game sweep.  It is possible it will happen, given the play of the Canucks, so this will be a game to watch.

Likewise with the San Jose Sharks, number one in Regular Season Play.  They head to Anaheim with a two game deficit.  However, oddly enough, these teams seem to have the home rink advantage completely mixed up, each having more success at the other's arena.  Another game to watch, and look for the Sharks to finally find a way around Hiller.

Don't forget the Picks and chat it up here or on the Game Pages:  Enjoy the games.

7:00 pm ET
Pittsburgh Penguins @ Philadelphia Flyers  (CBC, VERSUS)
Detroit Red Wings @ Columbus Blue Jackets  (TSN)

7:30 pm ET
New Jersey Devils @ Carolina Hurricanes  (TSN)

8:00 pm ET
Vancouver Canucks @ St. Louis Blues (CBC)

10:30 pm ET
San Jose Sharks @ Anaheim Ducks (CBC, VERSUS)

Or a way between the posts and to the back of the net...Maybe all of the loud PING!! sounds have got the Sharks thinking about their upcoming tee times.  If they lose tonight though, it is just another disappointing season down the drain.

I'm probably gonna listen to the first period of the Pens/Flyers game and then go to bed, scoreless right now.  LET'S GO PENS!

In the words of Nick Swardson from the very underrated Grandma's Boy, s***'s weak!!

But with the big time difference, it's understandable.

No worries man, you have more than fulfilled your duties of being a fan.  Too bad the game is still scoreless...

From what I've been listening to, it's been an even game.  Biron is playing well so far, but the Pens have been known to light him up.  On that note, I'm off to bed hoping I can wake up and write about how the Flyers face elimination in game 5.

Good luck to them and have a good night.  I'm afraid I will have to hold my breath for most of the Sharks game tonight, sweating nervously, hoping I don't pass out.  Hopefully I can sleep soundly after a nice 3 or 4 goal victory and the defribrillators eased off of the Sharks' collective chests.

Well, no local coverage tonight.  I have just tuned in.  I am hoping for a comeback, but expecting a loss.

Years of Shark post season disappointment has come to this.  Expecting failure.

Bay Area sports options tonight...

Watch the Sharks not score in Anaheim...   Or....
Watch the Giants not score at home against the Padres....

And the Ducks can feel free to push the Sharks around since they have no reason to fear the Sharks power play.

Well, that didn't last.  Of course.

Among other things wrong with the Sharks, they can't win faceoffs.

I'm telling you...  Basketball has NOTHING on hockey.

May I come?  But seriously, it's damn good to see the team play as it should.  Game Four is going to be equally intense and obviously the most pivotal one of the series.

I completely agree.  I have always told everyone that the NHL has the BEST playoffs, and that game did not disappoint.  Especially for the likes of us two.

Yep.  The game will be huge.  My brother-in-law controls his company's luxury box at the Honda Center.  He couldn't get me in tonight, but said for sure he could get me in for game 4.  He said he MIGHT be able to do game 6, but he won't know until Monday morning.  I'd like to just stay there over the weekend, but I need to save my time off.  So it's back home Saturday.

When I'm not disappointed at the Sharks, I absolutely LOVE the Stanley Cup playoffs.  The best post season of them all.  That being said, the regular season is just way too damn long!

Love the fact that the Ducks commentators were not on tonight (thank you Lakers!) and I got to watch the VERSUS feed. Enjoyed seeing the Sharks win in front of the Anaheim crowd.

It was an exclusive VS night, I think.   The game wasn't local here either.  We got the VS feed as well.

That sounds like a sweet deal, especially because the Sharks play the Ducks in Anaheim like they play most other teams in the Shark Tank.  I hope you can go!

I agree, a very long season, but that's not likely to ever change, especially with the way the NHL struggles against the other major sports leagues.  But the Stanley Cup Playoffs are the best, even though s Sharks' fans, they are a bit tougher.  Tonight helps out at least a little bit though.

Yeah, no local broadcast tonight.  I had to turn the radio on in the background so I could hear Jamie Baker and Dan Rusanowsky just to get the home vibe.  And yes, thank you Lakers, even though that game was scary at times too.

Oh yeah, and it may have been a good thing, because Versus HD is freaking magnificent.  I think I would sacrifice Remenda and Hahn for that every once in a while.

Congrats to the Canucks for being the first team into round 2.  Meanwhile, the Pens/Flyers series goes back to Pittsburgh on Thursday night with Philly on life support. :D
