You've got one week left, and all you need to do is win a few games against some of the league's worst teams and you can celebrate all weekend. Sounds easy, right? Not with these National League leaders.
The New York Mets have been disinterested for a while now, but the last losing streak is at 3 after getting swept by the Washington Nationals AT HOME. New York allowed 32 runs this week. There should be some rule prohibiting a team from the playoffs in this instance, but they seem to be taking care of that anyway.
Then of course, the Fighting Bartman's. A trip to visit the last place team in the NL East should be no problem, right? Except for the fact the Cubs haven't beat the Marlins yet this season ... or even the last two seasons. Chicago has now lost two straight and resorted to becoming Cardinals fans for a night. Fortunately, the Cards delivered otherwise the threat level for utter panic would at Red today in Chicago.
Joining their fellow division leaders, Arizona has followed suit and lost two straight to last place Pittsburgh.
Somehow we need to get the Rockies into the postseason, the only team not afraid of October. I realize the NL has very little chance to win the World Series, but this is getting out of hand.
