Thanks to Ryan Braun, CC Sabathia and the New York Mets determination to choke away a playoff berth for the second straight season, the Milwaukee Brewers are going to the playoffs for the first time since 1982 when they were in the American League. You could also thank the Chicago Cubs relief pitcher per inning strategy today. Despite facing the likes of Angel Gusman, Chad Gaudin, Neil Cotts and Kevin Hart, Milwaukee amounted zero runs through the first six innings. Craig Counsel drew a bases loaded walk in the 7th, then the dramatics came in the bottom of the 8th.
Bob Howry, whom I pray the Cubs leave off the playoff roster, grooved one perfectly for Braun who launched a game-winning two run home run. There won't be enough Miller Lite and bratwurst in Milwaukee tonight to keep up with demand.
CC Sabathia, pitching on three days rest for the third straight outing, pitched another complete game. You have to do what it takes to end a major playoff drought and credit Sabathia's strength and Bob Melvin's cajones for getting the job done.
As the entire crowd remained to wait out the Mets result, they were rewarded shortly thereafter. In the 8th inning of their game versus the Marlins, Wes Helms and Dan Uggla hit solo shots to give the Brewers the playoff berth.
Brewers are in. Mets are out. Schedule should be out shortly.

I think that look says it all for Mets fans.
