This photo says it all, right? Bela Karolyi lost it in the NBC Studios and nearly assualted Bob Costas after watching Nastia Liukin's floor routine that sealed the gold medal.

Liukin becomes the third women's gold medalist in the All-Around from the United States, joining Mary Lou Retton and Carly Patterson.

Perhaps the favorite, or just the most marketed before the games, Shawn Johnson earned silver and really couldn't have asked for much more. Liukin, in my humble gymnastics expertise, was simply as good as it gets.

After getting beaten by the Chinese Elementary gym team in the team competition, it's nice to see a 1-2 beatdown. More on this tomorrow morning most likely, with video footage that NBC didn't get to.

Now we better make sure Costas is OK. He has more bloggers to hate on after these games.

Both Carly Patterson and Nastia Luikin both trained right down the street from where I live. In Plano Texas. I knew Patterson did, but didn't know Luikin did until one of the announcers said that they both trained there... kinda interesting. Also, for Planoites everywhere, Testerone Man (Lance Armostrong) is also from Plano.

This was great! Despite the judges keeping the Chinese girl close, both girls did their best and went 1,2. Best momen=watching Bella watching the girls. He cracks me up!

Yes, Bela was hilarious-When they were showing the replay from inside the NBC center, I thought Costas was going to have to get up and move before Bela pushed him out of the chair!

As for the judging, piss poor and bias as usual, yet the American still prevailed!

Yeah I definitely have to agree with you.  That judging was HORRIBLE!  It seemed like the judges were doing everything possible to keep the Americans from winning the Gold even though the Chinese were below average last night.  It was great to see Nastia Liukin win that medal and I was happy for both her and Shawn Johnson.  Not only are they very pretty but they are also very talented!  And yes, Bela Karolyi was hilarious.....but it shows you how much passion he has for the sport!

Great performance (by both Nastia & Bela). I was glad to see that the top 2 places went to competitors we know are competing legally.

Shawn is the real champion! Even though with somewhat perfect landing, Liukin is short with her appearing-elegant-but-not-standard act. She is famous for her frog-like legs when tucking and twisted legs when turning which appeared so often last night. These two act are part of her reasons for solid landing and turning. However, unfortunately, they are not legitimate practice and scores should be deducted! The highest score in the balance beam she got last night is out of nowhere since she has got much less difficult level and did worse than Shawn did. The same thing happened in the floor exercise. I am a Chinese. I wish to see Chinese girls to win. But, I have to say, the Chinese girl, Yiling Yang, lost it to Shawn, but not to Liukin!

Lol, you are entitled to your opinion. But, how many balance checks did Yang have on the beam??? How many did both Shawn and Nastia have? Nastia and Shawn could double their checks and still not have the total that Ying did.

Well, lying about ones age so they can participate in the Olympics is not a legitimate practice either.

How do you determine "legitimate" in regards to gymnastics? I thought gymnastics was a form of body movement and balance. Didn't think someone's "frog-like" legs would make them an illegitimate gymnast.
