Top dog off the market: Nuggets resign Nene

Nene, largely considered the top NBA free agent this offseason, has agreed to resign with the Denver Nuggets, according to multiple reports. The deal is reportedly for five years and more than $67 million.

The Brazilian center has played all nine of his seasons with Denver and last year averaged 14.5 points and 7.6 rebounds. He had apparently been courted by the Indiana Pacers, New Jersey Nets and Houston Rockets during his free agency. The Nets are hard after another center right now though--Dwight Howard.

It has been a strange offseason for Denver, who lost three free agents, Wilson Chandler, J.R. Smith and and Kenyon Martin to China during the lockout. Yesterday they acquired Corey Brewer and Rudy Fernandez from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for a future second-round draft pick.

As a nuggets fan, this makes me very happy.
