Nerlens Noel says he's feeling great
“I feel great. I’m really starting to feel like my old self, being able to have my explosiveness. But I’m definitely being careful with it,” Noel said. ”From Day 1, every time I was in rehab, the last few reps, I would just think how bad I want to get on the court because of how much I want to prove to myself that I can get back and be the player I want to be.”
It is highly unlikely that Noel will be ready for opening day, but if Noel can come back by the new year, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him win rookie of the year. However, ACL injuries not only involve physical confidence, but mental confidence as well, which can often take longer.
“I want to be 100 percent confident not only physically, but mentally coming back from it,” Noel said.
The good news is that the Sixers are in no hurry for Noel to come back quickly. Because the Sixers did not resign Andrew Bynum and traded away their only all-star in Jrue Holiday, the Sixers are clearly in rebuilding mode, and if everything pans out, Noel will be the new face of the franchise.
