New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s performance a letdown as compared to last year
Brady is highly respected as a quarterback and is rated as one of the best to ever enter the NFL. He is a role model athlete for other and his performance speaks volumes for his talent. But this season did not start well from the start for him.
Much of the players he relied on last season were not a part of the team this season. Their tight end Aaron Hernandez ended up in prison for murder. Tight end Rob Gronkowski was in no good shape from the start and finally got his ACL torn.
Their wide receiver went to the Denver Broncos for a two year contract worth $12 million. They also lost their wide receiver Brandon Lloyd. This all meant that Brady did not have much to work with that he benefitted from last season. The players that did end up on the active 53 man roster were rookies Kenbrell Thompkins, Aaron Dobson and Josh Boyce along with veteran Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman. They didn’t shine either.
They had originally thought that Edelman and Amendola would become starters but they never stepped up to the spot. Amendola did not play four of the games and failed as a starter. It was Edelman who did shine and deliver to what the franchise had in mind from him.
Keeping all that in mind it is simple to assume that Brady never did get the weapons he needed to make a strong season. Hopefully they will fare better in the coming season.
