New York Post: CC STILL SITTING ON YANKS’ OFFER

Will Sabathia only come to NY because of the money? If that is the only reason why he would choose NY, that could turn into a problem later on. These all-star players that have come to NY over the years..got there money, but it didn’t satisfy them.

Sabathia’s wife, Amber, said she wanted her husband to pitch for the Giants. If Sabathia wants to win, he will come to NY. It’s as simple as that. The Giants would have a nice staff in Lincecum and Sabathia, but they have no hitting at all. They have the worst lineup in the major leagues. (Ranked 29th in the league in Runs in 2008) If CC’s main concern is winning, then the Yankees are the perfect fit. CC is the missing piece of the puzzle for the Yankees in my opinion. The Giants and Angels haven’t made a real push for Sabathia though, so for now they are just a bunch of rumors.

Sources say that the Giants have money to spend, but they wouldn’t even come close to the Yankees offer to CC. The Brewers also made an offer, but he hasn’t taken that deal either. As of now, the Yankees have the best offer on the table. You can pretty much call them the leader in the Sabathia sweepstakes, but that isn’t saying much..considering only one other real offer was made. (by the Brewers)

Boston Herald: Yankees gain more negotiating room

from rotoworld.com: Jake Peavy Update

According to the New York Daily News, the Braves and Cubs “have all but ended talks with” the Padres for Jake Peavy. The newspaper adds that “it’s still unlikely that the Yankees will get too involved in trade talks for Peavy, since it would probably take Phil Hughes and/or Austin Jackson to complete a deal.” General manager Kevin Towers is running out of options after all but guaranteeing that Peavy would be dealt.
