Tonight the Rangers square off in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals with the New Jersey Devils, and if all goes well, they will play in a third-consecutive seven-game series. John Tortorella claims that New York isn't tired, but history says otherwise.

As the below graphic shows, no team has ever won a series after winning the first two rounds in seven games. The Rangers needed seven games to oust the Ottawa Senators in the first round and seven more games to dispatch the Washington Capitals in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

That isn't the only trend going against the Blueshirts. No team has ever won rounds two and three in seven games.

So if the Rangers do advance, they will not only have beaten the Devils, but they also will have beaten the odds.

they sure as hell are.

Either way, I'll be praying for another Game 7 tonight.

Another point to be made, !

The talk should not be so much about the Rangers being tired after opening the playoffs with two 7-game series', the fact is they have yet to ever really hit their stride. They haven't found a formula that consistently works. They are eeking out these series. How else can I say this? They've been just barely good enough!

On the other hand, the Devils followed a 7-game series against the Panthers with a convincing 4-1 series victory over the Flyers. In that series they hit their stride, instilled some unshakeable confidence in their team, and found a way to play that consistently yields the W.

The Rangers, on the other hand, haven't won 2 games in a row since games 6 and 7 against Ottawa in the first round.

It's been quite a taxing playoff run to watch as a Rangers fan.
