New York Yankees Acquire Ichiro

Last week the Yankees found out that Brett Gardner will undergo season-ending elbow surgery. This week they find his replacement in Ichiro. The Yankees are nearing the completion of a deal for the former All-Star in exchange for pitcher D.J. Mitchell and Danny Farquar. The only hold ups determining how much of Ichiro's $17 million salary the Mariners will pick up.

However he is hitting .297 away from Safeco field, a number the Yankees hope will translate to the Bronx. In reality, the Yankees gave up very little to get Raul Ibanez's glove out of leftfield and to help Andruw Jones fill in for the injured Nick Swisher.
