The Daily News recently published a survey about the favorite sports teams among New Yorkers. Not surprisingly, the Yankees ran away with 23% of the votes. The Mets and Super Bowl champion Giants were 2nd and 3rd, with 12% and 9% respectively. How did the Knicks do? Well...one would assume that they would do pretty well. The Yankees and Mets split the baseball votes...the Giants, Jets and Bills have to compete for the football votes, and the Islanders, Rangers and even Sabres round out the hockey votes. The Knicks have no other NBA team in the state to compete with. But somehow, Isiah Thomas has managed to alienate the fans more than ever thought possible.Boston Red Sox: 3%
New York Knicks: 2%
Also ahead of the Knicks: Sabres, Bills. Apparently Buffalo residents turned out in massive numbers. Or maybe the folks in the state that brought us Rucker Park, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Carmelo Anthony, Rafer "Skip to my Lou" Alston, Omar Cook, Dr. J, and the great Michael Jordan just don't like basketball that much.
