Who's It Going To Be? Hornets Or Spurs?
by 100%InjuryRate

You may have noticed the site was down a bit this afternoon. That's what happens when I eat my lunch on my keyboard. I had soup by the way. Yes, in the keyboard, not a bowl. Extra delicious that way, seriously.

Anyway, here's what was going on today on the blog.

1. Time to get rid of Mike Brown.
2. Drag queens can now gun for a Jets cheerleading position.
3. Floyd Mayweather, still an idiot.
4. Ditto for Joe Morgan.
5. A new woman pole vaulter. She's not hot though, so you've probably already stopped reading this.

OK. Tonight is pretty simple. It's Game 7 featuring the new breed Hornets against the floptastic Spurs. The big question is will a hard Robert Horry foul again decide a series? Horry's stick on David West resulted in West re-aggravating a back injury. West's looked fine in practice, but we'll see come game time. The Hornets can't win this game without him. This game could also be Chris Paul's coronation, or a final stab at a championship by the Spurs and Timmy. I just hope the refs decide to stop calling ridiculous Spurs flops. Or if not that, that Chris Paul sends a foot into Bowen's groin.

Anyway, you know who I'm rooting for.

Arena Football League: Los Angeles at Chicago (ESPN2, 8 p.m.)

Major League Baseball: Chicago Cubs at Houston (ESPN, 7 p.m.)

NBA: Western Conference semifinals, Game 7, San Antonio at New Orleans (TNT, 8:30 p.m.)

NHL: Western Conference finals, Game 6, Detroit at Dallas (Versus, 8 p.m.)

12 minutes and the Spurs will play the Lakers on Wednesday. (note: Spurs are 4-6 in winning the title when making it to the conference finals)

If you're the Spurs you're obviously happy to be moving on, although you might be a little concerned that Janero Pargo almost singelhandedly beat you.  I hear the shooting guard that the Spurs play in the next round is a little bit better than Pargo.

Spurs/Lakers Conference Finals!

Great, great, great, great, unbelievable series. I respect Chris Paul for taking the champs to game 7 and really putting the pressure on them. Best of luck for him and the Hornets. Lakers and Spurs in the Conference Finals! Should be another long physical series!

Worst NBA Final Four ever, even with my Lakers dislike down from recent years and my ambivalence towards the Pistons.

Well, in desperation mode you do everything you can to force a shot. Also the Spurs sucked in the 4th. You can't judge Kobe and Pargo that way. Spurs/Lakers will be a tough series both ways.

If someone told me 5 or even 3 years ago that I'd be rooting for the Lakers to win the West Finals, I'd have looked at them like they were crazy.

why? Oh... cuz the Spurs are there. Didn't think that through. Don't be like that, Spurs just came back from 0-2, and the Lakers and Spurs will be just as good as Hornets/Spurs. You still have a team to root to kill San Antonio, so that should (sort of) be a good thing. It is a good final 4. Spurs/Lakers rivalry renewed? Celtics eyeing LA in a classic reborn, Detroit adds another consecutive Conf. Finals appearance, and of course for SA the repeat hopes are getting closer.

Sounds good to me.

Well, I think the only team the Lakers couldn't beat would be the Spurs since Pau Gasol is one of the worst big man defenders in the league so Duncan should have a field day and get Manu and co. several open looks.

You're forgetting Boston, a city I'm not exactly enamored with (save for still rooting for KG). Plus, there's no new blood. Spurs and Pistons again, the Lakers are always around, and the Celtics can't exactly be called new. ABC and the league office may not like it, but I prefer some new blood now and then.

mmk, fair enough. Lakers really are aways around. I'm looking forward to a Spurs-Celtics finals just because of match-ups rather then renewing rivalry with LA. Duncan going for 5th ring, KG looking for first, and NEEDS to go through TD for it, Allen and Bowen reaquainted, add a little Paul Pierce, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili, and that seems like a hella match-up. Much better than SA/DET, SA/NJ, or SA/CLE.

As a Lakers fan, its going to be weird not having to defend my team for the next series.

Unfortunately, I think you might be right.  I don't think New Orleans would have had much of a chance against the Lakers, but the Spurs certainly do.  Its all comes down to rebounding.  If the Lakers can control the boards and then run, we'll win.  If the Spurs do and slow it down then we're probably on our way to watching them win another #$%#ing title.
