I'm not going to give tonight the official seal of awesomeness, but it's close. That's because Texas plays Kansas State. And while Kansas State isn't ranked, they have super-frosh Michael Beasley who threw up an unreal 44 points in a close loss to Baylor last game. He should have his way with Texas tonight as well, the question is can any of his teammates help him.

By the way, Beasley has to be the #1 pick in this upcoming draft. I don't care if the team with first pick needs a point guard or what not. Beasley has to be #1. He has dominated this season and, in my opinion, is better than Durant was last year. Regardless, he'll soon be a very rich man.

College men's basketball: Marquette at Villanova (ESPN, 7 p.m.); Texas at Kansas State (ESPN, 9 p.m.); Gonzaga at Portland (ESPN2, 11 p.m.)

College women's basketball: Connecticut at LSU (ESPN2, 7 p.m.)

Motor sports: Resumption of NASCAR Sprint Cup Auto Club 500 (Fox, 1 p.m.); Nationwide Series, Stater Bros. 300 (ESPN2, one hour after conclusion of Sprint Cup race).

NHL: Philadelphia at Buffalo (Versus, 7 p.m.)

0	He was heavily recruited. He signed with Kansas St when Bob Huggins was still the coach there.

1	Beasley is/was friends with Bill Walker, and had an AAU relationship with Kansas State's current coach. He was considered the #1 recruit in the country and I think he took the same approach as OJ Mayo in that he want to go and play 40 minutes and be the man wherever he went. Kind of odd, but he basically just took the advice of Walker and went with it.

0	'Nova leading Marquette at the half. They could be putting themselves into the tourny with their late resurgence. They've won 4 of 5 with the one "loss" being to Georgetown and one of the wins being UCONN. A win over Marquette and winning 2 of the next 3 should do it. They'd be 20-10 (10-8).

I thought Nova was looking great ... turned out to be just a 10-minute stretch of brilliance. Might not make the tournament this year, but they could be awful good in a year or two.

Meanwhile, I get to enjoy the Bulls getting just obliterated by Dallas early on. Good thing Beasley-Texas is on now.

0	Not a error I don't think ... but our scores grid is showing Atlanta 16, San Ant 5 at the end of the 1st quarter. Normally I'd assume it's our fault ... but it appears to be the actual score. Awesome.

0	Ron Franklin just said Michael Beasley was unlucky tonight because a couple of his shots rimmed out. If I'm not mistaken, doesn't that mean he wasn't as accurate as he should/could have been?

Re: Beasley's recruitment. It's pretty simple, actually. He committed to UNCC originally, after they hired his AAU coach, Dalonte Hill. Dalonte Hill was then hired on staff by Bob Huggins at K-State and Beasley de-committed from UNCC and signed with K-state. When Huggins left, Dalonte Hill stayed at KSU and took a raise, thereby guaranteeing that Beasley would arrive in Manhattan.

Much like the rest of his DC Assault AAU teammates, Beasley was/is committed to Dalonte Hill, not his school or HC.

1	K-State uses Beasley really well. I actually think they use him better than Rick Barnes used Durant last year.

1	I wasn't saying anything about his numbers. I said that when compared with how Barnes used Durant last year, the K-State coaching staff utilizes Beasley better.
