‘No, I’m Staying’- Neymar to stay with Santos till 2014 World Cup in Brazil
Neymar reiterated his transfer policy after new rumors linking him to a big-money move this summer surfaced this week. In a press release this week, the Brazilian football prodigy was adamant about staying with Brazil until 2014.
The 20-year-old Santos forward also acknowledged renewed interest from top notch clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea. Manchester City have also named themselves as potential suitors for Neymar this weekend.
Neymar has been in phenomenal form for both club and country in the last couple of years. Football giants in Europe are willing to break their banks for the young Brazil international, but Neymar prefers to stay at his homeland until after the World Cup.
The 2014 World Cup, which is due to take place in Brazil, will end in the summers of 2014. If Neymar continues to record such high level performances then the youngster would have easily established himself as one of the brightest and biggest players in the football community.
Neymar may desire to stay at Santos till 2014, but big bids can change that. Moreover, the political situation at Santos is no longer healthy like it used to be.
Recent speculation about Neymar’s possible exit has been fueled by rift between Santos and DIS agency, which owns 40% of Neymar’s economic rights. The fall out between the Santos and DIS started out with Ganso’s transfer to rival club Sao Paulo.
DIS considered this transfer move as an act of strengthening Neymar’s competition. Therefore, they expressed their concern and publically distanced themselves from Santos.
Neymar believes that the feud between his club and agency will become a catalyst for his away move. Neymar declared that while DIS might own some of his rights and he is in contract with Santos, it is he who would decide about his future.
“DIS may still have some of my rights, as you know, but they don't have responsibility for my life,” Neymar said. “Those who control my life are me and my dad.
“From the moment you hear from my mouth, or from my dad's mouth that I will leave, then you can start to believe it.”
When Neymar was questioned about the interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Manchester City, the youngster clear said, “no, I’m staying”.
“There are always rumors and I am always saying 'no, I'm staying'. Then, you guys always say I'm leaving. So, please, believe me for once,” Neymar said.
