No Schott: At Least the Chargers Won't Lose a Playoff Game
READ MORE:
The San Diego Chargers fired the coach that led them to a 14-2 record because they were tired of another playoff loss. Well, they might have solved their playoff losing woes by hiring the one guy capable of keeping this talented team from actually making the postseason.

Martyball may be maddening by its ultraconservative nature, but there's a reason Marty Schottenheimer is among the 10 winningest coaches in NFL history. Blame him all you want for last year's loss to the Patriots, so long as you blame Norv Turner for fielding a worse football team this season.

Chargers have had a tough schedule, so a 1-2 record isn't stunning. The way they've played is. The feared defense is 22nd in the NFL, and you can thank the Bears ineptness for being that high. Worst of all, offensive genius  Norv Turner has made the best player in the NFL irrelevant. LaDainian Tomlinson is 34th in rushing. Martyball laughs quietly on the golf course.

San Diego was my pick to win it all which was a huge mistake. Why did I not take into account the Norv Turner factor.

If the Chargers win out, they could still match their record from last year.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

The Chargers were right in getting rid of Schottenheimer, but they should have done it a lot sooner in the offseason, when there were still serviceable coaches available. I knew Turner wasn't a very good coach, but who knew he was THIS bad?

Like Pat said, the Chargers had to get rid of Schotty, but the timing was horrible.  Apparently Turner is also the worst head coach ever.  I still can't figure out how the Packers won yesterday because Rivers and Gates lit us up.  On the bright side, they can just promote Ron Rivera after this year to head coach.

It's a long season.

It was an awful decision from the outset, they lose both coordinators, at least hire a guy who hasn't completely blown everytime he's been a head coach.

Told ya the Chargers would be a lot worse this year.

Ok.  I got an idea.  It would be a win-win for both sides:

Straight up trade....Joey Harrington for Phillip Rivers.  Rivers would give the Falcons the QB they need (duh) and the Chargers would get another scape goat to take the heat off of their head coach(es)...er soon to be ex head coach, whatever.

When is draft day again?  "For their first selection in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Falcons select Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville."
