Norfolk State Coach (Playing Rutgers This Weekend) Would Rather Play Michigan
by CriticalFanatic
9/11/07

There may not be a more definitive quote regarding the current (perceived) state of Michigan football than this quote from Pete Adrian, head coach of D-IAA Norfolk State:
"After watching Rutgers on film and watching Michigan play [Oregon], I think I'd rather be playing Michigan," said Adrian, whose Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) team will be the Knights' homecoming opponent Saturday.
Just for fun, let's compare the two football programs:

Statistic Rutgers Michigan
Total Wins 538 860
Consecutive winning seasons 2 39
Consecutive Bowl Games 2 32
Bowl Games 3 38
National Titles 0 11
Last National Title 0 1998
Conference Championships 0 42
Pros in the NFL currently 9 36
Last year's record 11-2 11-2
This year's record 2-0 0-2

Sadly, which statistic is most important right now. Boy have we ever come a what have you done for me lately world.

Yea, Norfolk St. is no Appalachian St. Plus, I personally believe that Michigan would beat Rutgers (and their awful fans) if they played this Saturday.

Well... at this current time I'd have to agree with the Norfolk St coach.  He shouldn't be talking because his team couldn't beat Rutgers or Michigan, but he's right.

This may be do to my Big Ten/State of Michigan roots ... but I'm still having a hard time believing the Wolverines won't right the ship. Far too talented. But we'll see. Because of the offense Rutgers plays, I like Michigan in that matchup.

Possibly... Michigan has the talent to turn it around, but I don't see them turning it around this year.  I think the one thing really hurting them is the fact that every single player on that team knows that Lloyd Carr isn't going to be back next season... that and any offense could run through or pass over that defense.

I still contend there's a leadership void/rift between players in the lockerroom ... it's on Lloyd too, but a lot of these team collapses have to do with the players not believing in one another.

I'd have to agree with that too.  As you pointed out before... how many 4 year starting QB's aren't a captain?  Thats just weird and makes you wonder whats going on in that locker room.  I think we both agree that its a disaster there in Ann Arbor.
