Not Surprised: Baseball Player Bought HGH. Surprised: It's Paul Byrd This Time.
READ MORE:
I still will never understand why I am even a little bit surprised to see a MLB player linked with HGH or any type of steroid; but just something still isn't quite clicking in this head of mine.

With Game 7 of the ALCS tonight; Game 4 winner, Paul Byrd, is said to have bought $25,000 worth of HGH and syringes from 2002-2005. And while this should make little news, being that HGH was NOT a banned substance at the time; he has "publicly denied using steroids in the past". (I know, another "shocker", a professional athlete lying).

You have to think this is bound to come up just a few times in tonight's game; and if the Indians make it to the WS, will be mentioned when/if he pitches.

Out of all MLB players out there I, for one, just don't think of a Paul Byrd-type player being involved in this too; but I guess everybody is fair game (verdict is still out on Jason Tyner).

HGH and steroids are two different things for one.

Two, it appears that a.) he had a prescription, b.) he was diagnosed with adult growth-hormone deficiency by three different doctors, and c.) he was also diagnosed with a tumor on his pituitary gland. If anyone in baseball has a legit reason to be taking HGH, Paul Byrd does.

Love the timing, BTW. Wonder if Boston had anything to do with it.

Byrd might be the definitive proof that HGH does not always aid your strength.

"Love the timing, BTW. Wonder if Boston had anything to do with it."

So what if they did? If he's got a legitimate reason to have used it, then who cares? If he did something illegal, then he did something illegal. Either way, there's no reason it shouldn't be public knowledge, just like everyone wants it to be for everyone else.

And after the Indians brought out Beckett's ex to sing the national anthem for the game he pitched, I think the Sox get a free pass anyway, on the timing thing.

"Byrd might be the definitive proof that HGH does not always aid your strength."

Really? Or maybe Byrd wouldn't even be IN the major leagues at all anymore, had he not used HGH. I know this is hard to believe, but some guys just aren't good enough to play in the bigs.

I'm not saying I KNOW any of this, I just think it's something to keep in mind.

I think he was just trying to impress his son so when he plays MLB 2008 he will be able to say "Dad you are good enough to play for the Yankees now."

Is it wrong that I am secretly rooting for Craig Counsell's name to come up in one of these HGH/steriods stories?
