Did you watch any of the NBC coverage today? If you're even in dire need of vomiting (sometimes that's just necessary) just dial up the Notre Dame network on a fall Saturday. I can tolerate the glorious, courageous coverage when the Irish are winning, but when beating 1-9 Duke becomes a grand achievement that's where I draw the line. Congratulations, you beat Duke. This win ensures a spot for Notre Dame among the best 115 FBS teams in the country. In fact, Jeff Sagarin lists the Irish boldly at 103 just ahead of Hofstra and a notch behind D1-AA juggernaut Villanova. It also made sure Charlie Weis avoided the first winless home season in 74 years. You see, according to NBC there is a lot to take pride in. The Fighting Irish are alive and well.
Should we really credit Charlie with the win, thought? Wasn't this all Lou Holtz and his inspirational pep talk? You know it was.
