Notre Dame QB Golson Cleared for Practice
Golson was involved in a helmet-to-helmet hit late in the fourth quarter of the Irish's overtime win over Stanford last Saturday night. He suffered a minor concussion and did not return to the game.
Coach Brian Kelly said on Sunday that he expected Golson to return to practice by Wednesday.
Although Golson has been cleared to play this weekend, it's unclear at this point whether he will start or not. Quarterbacks Tommy Rees and Andrew Hendrix split first-team reps during Tuesday's practice, and Rees was 4-of-4 for 43 yards with a pivotal touchdown in relief against the Cardinal.
Still, Golson has started five of six games, leading Notre Dame to its first 6-0 record since 2002. The Irish are currently No. 5 in the first BCS Standings and will host BYU this Saturday afternoon.
