Rochell is a 4-star athlete and sits as the No. 12 overall DE for the class of 2013, according to Scout.com. He joins 5-star outside linebacker Jaylon Smith—who committed four days ago—in what looks to be a very strong defensive class.
Sitting at 6'5", 260 pounds, Rochell has elite size to fill the position at the next level. His specific strengths and abilities make him a great fit for Kelly's 3-4 defense, where he will be groomed to become a dominant pass rusher.
As a junior for his high school team, Rochell compiled 97 tackles and seven sacks.
Before he gave his verbal to the Irish, he held offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Boston College, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Purdue, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
Rochell is the Irish's 14th commitment for the class of 2013 and fourth top 100 member. Notre Dame is currently ranked No. 7 on 247sports.com's team recruiting rankings.

It may be another 8-4 or 9-3 campaign for the Irish in 2012, but 2013 could be very interesting in terms of NC contention.
