Notre Dame Loses Starting Corner for Season

Notre Dame's already thin secondary took a huge blow Monday as starting cornerback Lo Wood suffered a season-ending Achilles injury during practice, reports Brian Hamilton of the Chicago Tribune.Blog Photo - Notre Dame Football: Irish Lose Starting Corner for Season

The Fighting Irish have just one returning starter from last year's secondary on the team this season: senior safety Jamoris Slaughter.

Wood, along with counterpart Bennett Jackson, were both expected to replace corners Robert Blanton and Gary Gray. Now coach Brian Kelly will be forced to start an underclassman with little-to-no experience, such as Jalen BrownKeiVarae Russell or Josh Atkinson.

Wood played in 21 games during his first two seasons with Notre Dame, compiling 10 tackles and an interception.
