This year, the Irish have been focusing heavily on the defensive line, nabbing seven solid recruits to fill holes and get their hands dirty in South Bend.

So far, they've signed defensive ends Andrew Trumbetti, Grant Blankenship, Jonathan Bonner, Kolin Hill and Jhonathon Williams, along with defensive tackles Jay Hayes and Daniel Cage.

Trumbetti, a four-star recruit ranked 9th among strong side defensive ends (247sports) and 4th among all recruits from New Jersey, enrolled nearly a month ago.

The other six players signed today:

Grant Blankenship is the 22nd-ranked SDE, and 33rd-ranked player overall from Texas.

Jay Hayes is ranked 21st among defensive tackles, and 3rd-best prospect New York.

Daniel Cage is the 24th-ranked DT, and 14th-ranked Ohio-based recruit.

Jonathan Bonner is the 25th-rated SDE, and 11th-ranked recruit from Missouri.

Kolin Hill is the 33rd-ranked weak side defensive end in the country, and the 79th-best recruit from Texas.

Jhonathon Williams is the 47th-ranked SDE and 17th-ranked recruit from Michigan.

This is shaping up to be a strong class for Notre Dame, as usual, and the defensive line recruits are coming on strong so far.
