Former Notre Dame starting quarterback Everett Golson (remember this guy?) has reapplied for admission for academics, reports John Taylor of College Football Talk. Blog Photo - Notre Dame football: Irish QB Everett Golson on his way back

Golson was expelled from Notre Dame earlier this year after being caught for cheating on a test, and had to wait until the 2014 spring semester for a hopeful return. He'll find out his fate in December.

If he is re-accepted into the University by mid-December, coach Brian Kelly has stated that it will be in time for him to make a quick return to the practice field to help prepare the team for its postseason.

Golson's expulsion in late May sent shockwaves through the college football world, coming just a few short months after he led the Fighting Irish to a 12-1 record and an appearance in the BCS National Championship Game as a true freshman.

Notre Dame is currently 7-3 with a tough home matchup with BYU this weekend, followed by the regular season finale on the road at Stanford. Senior quarterback Tommy Rees has been sufficient in Golson's absence, completing 54.6 percent of his passes for 2,504 yards, 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

However, there's no doubt that the Blue and Gold Nation would have rather had No. 5 under center in 2013.
