Novak Djokovic has been one of the more popular European players at US Open, but that likely changed Thursday night.
Djokovic was clearly upset with Roddick's sarcasm the other night, mocking Novak's tendency to overdramatize his injuries. Roddick was concerned if he'd potentially come down with SARS, or maybe even the bird flu. Two days after limping his way through a previous match, calling the trainers often, Djokovic was sharp and healthy in dispatching his American rival 6-2, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6.
His win wasn't what incited boos. It was his post match interview. Let's just say he didn't take the high road.
"Obviously Andy was saying that I have 16 injuries last match; obviously I don't, right?"
Booooooo.
"I know they are already against me because they think I'm faking everything, so . . . "
Booooooo.
"That's not nice . . . "
BOOOOO.
As much as I chide New York fans, we could never live without them. Fine work. Although I just think they were booing USA Network wasn't showing his girlfriend Leryn Franco enough.
